i have a fixie conversion with non horizontal drop outs
my chain is loose and my rear wheel is pulled as far back as it can go
is their anyway to tighten the chain more?

screw around with taking out links, adding a half link, etc.

grip it betwixt your bulging loins and tug like the talent scouts are watching, this should stretch the rear triangle of the frame enough for adequate tension

I bought the Forte kit from Performancebikes.com. For my Cannondale R300 with Verticals, I didn't need the tensioner.
What did it for me was:
46t Chainring
16t Sproket
1 half link

I bought the kit because it came with the 16t sproket and silver spacers.

I'm assuming you mean you have horizontal dropouts, not track ends.
if you have vertical dropouts then you're pretty much screwed - barring finding a magic ratio (eww) or getting an ENO.

if you have horizontals, then just take a link out of your chain.

Man those threads yesterday had me in stitches. Every time I would come back to the overview of SSFG there was a new "race". I say "race" because everyone knows robots are not a race, but a completely new species.
