Enough for what? What are you trying to accomplish? What is your goal? I don't know where you live, that is important in determining what adequate mileage is.

What's your heart rate when you ride? How fast are you riding? What does your cadence look like?

Lots of stuff for you to answer before we can answer.

The best thing I think we'll all tell you is to STOP comparing yourself to everyone else. Everyone is an individual, and we'll all have unique training goals and plans. Next thing you know, you'll be asking us if you have the right bike, then how much does your bike weigh in comparison to mine, then what is your max heart rate, how close do you get to it because you get X beats as high, etc. Training is NOT like that- training is spending the time working on your weaknesses so you can get stronger, faster, and better. Then you can start racing against other folks, and THAT'S the time to ask how people are as compared to you- because you're racing them, or you're training with them and need to keep up, or some other competitive situation.

If you give us a better idea of your plans and what you're doing, how long you've been at it, what your future goals are, how you plan on achieving them, and what tools you have to achieve these goals, I think we'll be able to better answer your questions. I hesitate to respond right now, as I really don't have an idea of WHY you're asking these questions. We're all here to help, we just need to know HOW we can help you! :)

Is it enough for what? What are you trying to do? Are you training for racing? Most people who train to race are more interested in time not miles. The reason is some days I might work the hills and improve climbing. It's expected 2 hours of training on hills will net fewer miles yet the workout would be harder then 2 hours of flat terrain riding. Or I may work on spinning so am in a lower gear with higher revolutions and am unable to get the speed I can get in higher gears thus in a given amount of time cover fewer miles. You get the picture.

If your getting 150-200 miles a week this is a good week. If you average 20mph then your getting 7.5-10 hours per week. If you train 40 weeks a year this would be 300-400 hours per year. That would be on par for a cat. 4-5 rider using those figures. If your just starting out that would be very strong assuming you average 20mph.

IMHO I would determine the goal you want to obtain. If it's racing and your starting out cat. 5 level training then you want to do 200-350 hours per year. Figure out how many weeks a year you can train in your area when you factor weather and other commitments. Train based on those factors and back into the weekly hours. The miles will take care of themselves.

I've been putting in 125-185 a week since April. I agree with jchet, 150-200 is good for cat 4-5. A cat 1 on a century I was riding a couple of weeks ago was talking about his training mileage. 450 miles/week during base, 350 miles/week in season. It started me wondering... how long (were talkin' years) would I have to train just to be able to ride that many miles a week?

Roadbuzz,

I guess it just depends on how years it takes before you're independently wealthy and don't need to work anymore. :D

Right now I am hitting the gym 3x a week so my mileage has dropped. I was hitting 200-250 now more like 150 miles is my max.
