That is awesome! I'd be dazzled as well if someone would be calling out for my wheel.

Great story......What a experience that must have been for him....

Does this mean Bobby rode the rest of the stage in one gear? It's not like the soloists have barrel adjusters anywhere near the cockpit...

Way cool. I'd frame it and put it over my mantle.

He probably had a few gears he could use.

I don't get it: why all the talk about shipping? After the race the guy went to meet the team. Why couldn't he get his wheel back? Was Bobby going to ride the 540 the following day? :)

Quoted from the story....: I arrive at the finish, Levi is on the podium. I go around to where the team cars are located, but CSC is nowhere to be found. I talk to a mechanic from Colorado with Mavic race support (he tells me- “your a hero”) and he gives me the hotel that they are staying at. I head home by riding light rail.

Yeah I saw that. But then he went to the hotel. Are the mechanics hiding in their Secret Compound with stolen wheels hidden behind the Massive Door? :)

He was already home. Sounds like maybe he is car challenged....:)

With his freaky chainrings, he's probably acclimated to crappy shifting.

yeah, it wasn't clear if he called or drove to the hotel.

I think Bobby should stuff a set of zipps in there with the old wheel.:D

So what ever happened to this guy did he get his wheel back? Did Bobby J. hook him up with the CSC special? What? What? What?!!

I wouldn't be surprised if they throw a set of Team CSC Wheels (http://www.zipp.com/Products/Wheels/tabid/85/CategoryID/2/List/1/Level/1/ProductID/40/Default.aspx?SortField=ISBN%2cISBN) at him.

I remember hearing a similar story from Australia, where a rider wrecked, and a fan gave him a bike, same size, components, cleats and all, he went and finished the race, don't remember what happened after the race.

No, he just hung on to the team car for 20 miles (err seconds) while a team mechanic adjusted the dérailleur.

Categorically incorrect.

Do you even know what I'm referring to?

bdcheung
02-25-08, 12:15 PM
I'm guessing it's an indirect reference to the Mark Cavendish incident, in which case the connection between Julich's course curb collision and Cavendish's unlikely bike-swap-mechanical-assistance is so disjointed and ambiguous that those less attuned to the minutiae of the Tour of California would likely misinterpret your post as a suggestion of unscrupulous conduct by Julich, which is, categorically, incorrect.

If my guess is wrong, then your meaning is inscrutable.

I wouldn't mind that at all. They look comprable to the Fulcrums and Ksryiums.

You've been following botto around too much. Actually it was just good ole American intarweb sarcasm. Now if BJ had won the stage it'd be something entirely different.

That couldn't be father from the truth. botto never(?) uses words with more than three syllables.

I'd die if they fronted him a bill for something.
That would be my luck.

So it looks like there is still no update on what CSC "hooks this guy up" with. I am curious to know.
