Training & Nutrition - Price for a Polar 720 S?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I found one for $225, which includes tax. Does anyone know if this is a good deal?
BTW, it's only for the software and the watch. I still need to buy all the nice little extras...

Suggested retail is: $340.

So no transmitters?
That could be pricey. My complete 710i package was just under CAN$400 [US$285??] (that was a smoking deal 'cause I did some minor web design for the shop owner) and that was the full package. $225 seems high for just the watch.
225 + 75 (HR transmitter) + 48 (speed sensor) + handlebar mount ($10) = $358
You're not doing much better than retail for the watch/software only.
I've never heard of these guys but here's the complete 720i package for US$288

BTW, don't make the mistake I did... the "i" models can interface with a standard PC IrDA port. Many laptops have these and they're a cheap add-on for some PCs. I ended up buying the Polar IR unit which costs more than a generic IrDA device.

I bought a 710i earlier this year for $210.00 shipping included. I browsed the web till I wore my hands out. If you can get a 720 for that price it would be a great deal. I would double check to make sure though that you recieved all of the kit. My 710i came with watch, tranmitter (HR is worthless without it so I can't imagine not having included), bar mount, speed sensor and tie raps, and software for my computer. The great thing is if you have a laptop of newer vintage most have IR ports and you don't need anything else. If you have a desk top then you would need an IR device (makes the upload and download a piece of cake). If you shop around the internet you can find these (IR) for @ $30.00.
F1_Fan I didn't do anything particular to make my laptop work as far as the IR feature. I utilize my HR monitor all the time and have not had one problem. Have you continued to upgrade your software. Since getting mine in Feb I think Polar has sent out 3 software upgrades.

I may not have worded my post clearly... my PC supports IRdA on the motherboard. I wasted my money buying the Polar IR unit because I didn't know that the "i" models were IRdA compliant.

I bought my 710i for $220 with the watch, transmitter, bar mount, speed sensor, tie wraps, software as well, this was a year ago, and I did the same thing as wyorider, and shopped alot on the net. I did buy the IR USB cable, but that was the only addition. so I say keep shopping , and you should be able to find a deal for a complete package.
Oh, I'm sorry. I meant for the whole kit and caboodle, but not the IR sensor.
Since I wasn't sure if my computer had the IR sensor capability, I went ahead and got that too. I figured that if I did end up having it, I could just sell the IR here on bicyclebid. There has to be someone out there wanting to save a few bucks on buying one.
The only thing left is for me to get the power output thingie. They didn't have it, but the polar folks gave me a card and said they'd sell it to me for $100 less than the normal price- I put that card waaaaay away, and when it gets closer to winter and I've gotten myself situated with the trainer, I'll call Polar.
Since I'm getting the power option with the Polar, then I'm going to go with he Cycle-Ops Fluid 2 Trainer.
Thanks for the advice, everyone!
