Didn't Frank Zappa refuse to drive for a long time? (Common knowledge back in the day, but I can't google up a current reference.) What's the story on that?

I had heard the same thing,that he didn't drive a car.But there's no reference of it anywhere.Maybe it's just one of those long standing Frank myths.There were many.
