What is your favorite brand of road cycling shoe?

I've only tried one type...

I had a very old pair of Diadoras when I first started riding before clipless pedals. It had wooden soles.
My next shoes were Nikes (still clips & straps). Finally, I settled on Carnac Lemonds when I got my first clipless pedals. Now I use Carnac Heliums. Love them. I played with the buckles on a pair of Sidi's, it seems too small for my hands/fingers. I don't know if I could make it work on the road.

My very first clipless shoe was a "sport / touring" shoe with SPD cleats that I could use on both road and mountain bikes. I then bought a pair of NIKE Gabuche for under $50!!! (Look cleats). Loved it, mainly because it had both a shoelace and velcro closure.
Finally, I splurged and bought a pair of SIDIs...ahhh, nirvana!

Where is the Mtb choice?
My elf and a very famous person, ( ok, his name is Beanz) use
Mtb shoes for road cycling also.

I like to be able to walk, although the extra calf streching while walking would come in handy!

I've used a few, but Specialized, as much as I hate to admit it, fit my feet best.:)

My favorite shoe is the one I am wearing. Sidi's are great. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Never tried Carnac ... I heard it is very cumfy, especially if you have wide feet.

I voted for the Shimanos since I've got a really comfortable set but I also ride the bike with some regular shoes that are just super comfortable all-around shoes. The also happen to be very functionaly capable for commuting and rarely slip, even on wet plastic pedals.

This pair of kicks is a little wild in the style cagegory though. :)

Have Sidi but am impressed with the new specialized. Different footbeds accommodate different arches.

No brand preference. I buy whatever brand shoe that fits well, looks good, and is on sale at the time. I currently use Time and Shimano mountain biking shoes, and Vittoria road shoes. Other brands I've used in the past, Diadora, Sidi, Nike, have all worked well for me. :)

No brand preference when it comes to tires either. Like Phil, I'll buy and use whatever is on sale at the time and use them til they wear out. Yeah, I'm cheap. :p

I rode all four double centuries last year with 3 year old Shimanoes. They worked fine. But I'll never buy another brand than Sidi now that I shelled out a little more $$ for them. They feel like butta compared to my other pair and no more "hot toes."

Diadora!

Started with Shimano road shoes which were a size too big, then got some Adidas Durango MTB shoes for commuting which were not comfortable...

Made the jump to those Cannondale/Diadora shoes last year and never looked back.

I didn't think much of Diadora at first because my friend got some of their Geko shoes (when we all switched to clipless) which i just thought looked weird (and i didn't know much about cycling shoes just yet). The Gekos still look kinda "meh" to me but i'm glad i discovered the rest of their lineup. :)

Regardless of shoe choice, all the stock insoles suck! I end up replacing them with some from my old running shoes or new memory foam Dr. Scholl insoles. :D

Just like bikes, it's not about the brand, it's about the fit. When it comes down to basics, all road shoes are required to do is be very stiff and not hurt your feet. Sidis are great quality shoes but they don't work for me at all. Specialized has the best fit for me of the brands I tried so I bought a pair of Carbon Comps last year and have been very happy.

My first Road Shoes were sidi, I still use them daily. They look a bit worn, but still solid shoes.

Sidi because a friend works there and they make wide shoes.

Adidas Pro Carbons.

They run a little narrow and for me that means they fit
like a glove.

from the mid-80's until 2005, i had only worn Lake. i switched to nike when i got a good deal on the lance II. Lake is in the business of making cycling shoes and nothing else, so they are far superior to nike. but the nikes look(ed) cool, and that counts for something.
my current fav brand is Lake, but i may try shimano or cannondale/diadora soon...

I don't own a pair of road shoes. I have some mountain...shimano spd's, specialized...a pair of lake I don't care for as much as the other two.

I wear sandals a lot lately on the bike...Tevas or Keen. Even backpacking I wear Tevas.

I've ridden MANY different brands/models. There is one brand that stands heads and shoulders above the rest. Try them ... your feet will thank you.

I bought a very inexpensive pair of Sidis on ebay and they're great. I also have a pair of Nikes that I like very much. The Nikes are a liittle heavier and are worn primarily in early Spring and late Fall when the air is a bit cooler but my lightweight Sidis are my summer shoe.

I haven't tried enough to vote.

I've been using my Sidi for 1.5 yrs now. It's been good. Recently, I picked up the lowest model Specialized for rotation (my Sidi got soaked after my last 3 hrs trainer ride).

I do know that I don't like Pearl Izumi road shoes. I tried quite a few models and all of them have an edge that press on the inner side of my foot arch; very annoying. I guess they aren't for me.

Sidi versus crappy Performance shoe. Well.... no contest.

Lake mtb shoes. They came in a wide width, which I needed. I use 'em with froggies on my roadie and like being able to walk normally in them.

Sidi's, with Specialized footbeds. Works for me.

Sidi's (non-mega) fit me very well. And the buckle device has held up surprisingly well.

I prefer Pearlizumi's, they work great for someone with a wide foot.. Nike and Time shoes are also good choices..
