Looking for a front hub to lace to a 404 rim. Price is a consideration, weight is a consideration, but I'd say that good bearings is what I'm really looking for.

Recommendations?

I've been using AC's micro hubs for years with no issues. Upgraded to ceramic bearings on my 900g set.

20 Holes. I like the AC myself, but didn't want to cloud everyone else with my opinion.

Tune makes some pretty fancy hubs too, but for the real bling value I'd have to go with White Industries H-1.

Polished aluminum sex.

Ultegra or White Ind.

I had a DT Swiss 240 and was very pleased with it. now they have the newer ceramic version 180, but i dont really think its worth the added cost

I've been very happy with my White H1. It isn't terribly costly either (compared to other boutique hubs). $100-110 is very reasonable for the quality and bling that the Whites provide.

I was going to suggest the same, but they only make them in 28- and 32-hole versions.

DT Swiss makes a 20h 240 and 190. It may not be listed on the DT Swiss website, but QBP lists it on its inventory and I have personally bought a 20h 240

QBP is a wholesale distributor that most shops deal with. You can't buy direct so you'll have to go through a shop

Qbp?

Quality Bike Parts - the supplier to most bike shops.

A note - many shops have a shop "store" which is actually a tie in to QBP. Although you aren't going to pay wholesale (the shop sets the margins), you can look at what's available.

QBP parts are usually two letters and four numbers. For example, a crank related item might be something like CR1234. So if you go to a shop's "online store" and you see a part number like that then you're dealing with QBP.

I mention this because QBP is the schnizzle when it comes to efficiently getting your order out. If the shop links to QBP, you essentially get the same service. It's perhaps one step slower than ordering from an Excel. QBP has such a big catalog that it's bound, is maybe 2" thick?, I think comes in two volumes now, costs a lot of money, and they make both consumer and shop versions of it.

QBP is the US distributor and/or importer (I believe) for some big makes like BMC, Salsa, Surly. They also do a lot of less-known stuff like 3 piece BMX cranks, tandem cranksets, different size chainrings, unusual brakes, etc etc etc.

I think Salsa is actually owned by QBP
