Mountain Biking - Triple to single chain ring help

My freind recently bought a single chainring for his bike to convert from 3 to 1 at the front. We could get the chainrings loose but couldn't get the crank arm off, even after we un-did the allen key bolt thing. The crankset is Truvativ Hussefelt and the single chainring is Truvativ DH single ring.

We really need to know how to get the crank arm off. Is it with a special tool, is there something else holding it on, do you need a crank puller?

Yes, and make sure you remove the crank bolt washer if there is one, and make sure the puller is for splined.

I've seen a lot of people that post about their favorite place to buy stuff when they make a recommendation or suggestion. Did not think that is a problem. Don’t quite understand why you would ask Joe to make money off of all the advertisements I post, just like from Google.

Would you rather I post directly to a manufacturer? Then let an inexperienced, rider try to decipher what is good and what is hype, then try to find a place to buy something? Or would it just be better to give a direct link that pertains directly to the question asked?

Because I did not come here to offend anyone, just to answer questions. Obliviously you took offence to me supporting JensonUSA, so I removed it.
