Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - When the going got tough...it was a Clyde?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. If memory serves me correct, and it often doesn’t, a cyclist that is 6’2” and 185 lbs would be considered a Clydesdale; am I correct?
If that is the case, then a Clydesdale won the Fourth Stage of the Tour de California race yesterday in the worse weather conditions that the race has ever seen.

A Canadian rider… don’t ask me his name, it just caught me by surprise when they told the specs on his height and weight. Any body else catch that?...

height doesn't matter - weight and the desire to crush scrawny (would runt be too harsh?), underfed souls does

And on a stage where several people that survived the climbs of stage 3 dropped out of the race.

I watched the race from start to finish on the official website. http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com

The finish by Rollin yesterday was amazing. I can't imagine holding off the chasing group for such a long distance.

The finish during stage 3 with Gesink and Leipheimer in tow was also exhilarating.

If he's over 6' tall, then he's considered a Clyde, no matter what his weight.

Dominique Rollin...

I thought you had to be 200 or more... In any case, I don't see this guy as a Clyde. http://www.velobios.com/riders/2007%20Rider%20Headshots/Dominique%20Rollin.jpg

I have been riding for ohhhh, 30 years and I have never heard of someone being a Clyde just because they are taller then 6'. Maybe someone was feeling left out of our voluptuous group and wanted in so they decided that 6+ in height would also be considered a Clyde. ;)

I was just happy that someone who didn’t fit the so-called “Roadie Mold” won that stage. Call it Clyde Pride if you will. Dominique Rollin and I are at opposite ends of the Clyde universe, but I would still be proud to call him a Clyde… he may not appreciate it, but it would be meant as a true complement to his strength, endurance, and riding ability.

A skinny Clyde is an oxymoron..

We could just say… he is a tall little roadie, but that seems like more of an oxymoron to me…:)

Nope, the term Clydesdale originated in the Triathlon world for an athlete over 6 ft and or ο200 pounds and over.

That would make the likes of Hincapie, Cipollini, Boonen and Cancellara clydes.

I rode with a bunch of the Kodak Gallery guys in the Tour de Vero "Dollars for Scholars" ride. He wasn't one of the riders in attendance but, they were a nice bunch to ride with. http://onetrak.smugmug.com/gallery/3457607#194284560

FWIW, I'm in pictures # 33, 134, and 135. Just a clyde doing his part.
