Do you have a band that always seems to be sharing the bill (and thereby driving up the ticket price) with a band you love? When you're selling merchandise for some other band and everyone comes up to you to ask if you're selling merch for the band you hate? The band that you hate and that wherever you go someone always seems to be playing the CD? That shaky voice that won't stop gnawing out your eyeballs? For me, that's Bright Eyes, specifically Conor's voice. I have similar feelings about Stephen Meritt, but I'll shut up before I get beat up by the indie kids.
Geeze, Gilby, maybe would should have had this correspondence via PM since all the sensitive types have blown this whole thing out of proportion. :D
Nevertheless, I see your point. I like Conor's voice, for it reminds me of Paul Westerberg's voice who made all of mid- to late-teens and early twenties a whole lot less lonely and miserable. Conor's a decent song writer, too. I first heard of him in the lately Vanity Fair, of all places. Apparently the Big People of High Opinion have caught on and proclaimed Conor the new Dylan. Silly, I know. Yet I picked up their new e.p.'s and really like them. The one single Lua also happens to describe a certain hard love relationship for me.
****, you are also right about he indie kids beating you up. I am surprised them haven't come out with their crosses and a stake to burn you on and a scarlett letter to emblazen on your chest. Damn indie kids ruin everything!

my girlfriends uncle was the drummer for that band. I used to listen to them a lot so when she told me, my jaw dropped to the floor. He's a really good drummer and a really cool guy. . . kind of hard to believe her dad is this guys brother. He also played with Government Issue, another dc band. anyway

Antioch Arrow doesn't so much for me. I own all of their records (except the split with Candle), but I only listen to the first one, and even then it's extremely rare that I do so. I think, as far as the San Diego/Cupertina scene goes, they were one of the worst.

snickersnicker: you seem pretty well versed in early 90's HC; especially considering you're how old, 16? it's commendable, to be sure. now, you mentioned second story window, who i have always wanted to hear, but've never come across. did they release anything on CD?
