Almost anything that Jon Langford does - Mekons, Waco Bros., solo stuff w/ his Sadies and w/ Sally Timms, etc. - is great. Jon records for Bloodshot and also lives in Chicago, I think. Does that mean that y'all living in Chicago get the benefit of many, many excellent live shows??? If so, I'm jealous - although Jon usually plays Portland with one band or another about once or twice a year.

That's right - except they don't play out here as much as you'd think, so don't feel left out :-) - have seen Waco bros several times in the last couple of years, but not Sally or that thing a bunch of them do, is it Pine Valley Cosmonauts (sp?) or something like that?

weren't they at the Hideout Block Party last year? Year before?

I want to say yes - seems to me I do remember they were, although I wasn't - I saw them the last couple times at the Andersonville Street Fair - and at Fitzgerald's - except the last time I had to leave before they went on, but I "saw" them :-)

sometimes it's the saddest songs that make us happiest - sad is an intense emotion that can't be sustained for long, we hope...

tonight I'm needing something to keep me awake - doing homework, and having a hell of time - may have to pack it in and get up in early in the morning to work on it

Yeah, there's the Pine Valley thing too. But I'm pretty sure it's different than the Jon 'n' Sally duet shows...Jon seems to be one of those guys who just wants to play music all the time w/ lots of different people...Bloodshot also has Alejandro Escovedo, one of my all time favorite Texas artists. check it out:

I've got two versions of Super Black Market Clash. One is an Epic Legacy CD w/ a release date of 1993 which shouldn't be too hard to find used still, I don't think. The other is a double or triple record set on 10" vinyl, which is probably a bit rare... :D

I've got one 10" of Black Market Clash, which I love, for it's dub stuff. I'll have to go on the hunt for the CD version like yours.

Blixa was saying this might be their last north american tour - i guess they're losing money on tours in the states.

God..Please someone help me to get a tune out of my craw.
The other day, my wife was preparing dinner. The TV flipped to the kids' show
HR Puffenstuff...I was too sleepy to turn off the station and the remote was elsewhere...It keeps coming to mind while riding and once in awhile the words gets expressed while on the road...
Maybe I need a visit to the service that took care of everyone's mental hang ups in the movie- "Spotless Mind."

I'm a huge GP fan. Have you ever heard Rank and File? It was a country-punk band formed out of the ashes of The Dils, and included the extraordinary talent of Alejandro Escovedo. Rhino finally reissued the first two albums on one disc, but it sells for $25!!! Amazing music though, and worth every penny.

I've got the original vinyl and saw them live in Austin in the 80's. Alejandro's brother Javier was in one incarnation of the band too, I think - there were several lineups. Alejandro Escovedo is one of my all-time favorite songwriters and performers. Ya got good taste, dude!! :)
