This thread is getting boring so lets start talking about music instead of just saying what we like.
So... Two cool things
Dispatch- All Points Bulletin
All of Dispatch went to my High School. The singer came back to homecomming and gave my friend some rolling paper. Idk, its just sort of cool.
And... If anyone here is into Ska (Essentialy Punk Rock with Horns) I'm opening for the band Catch 22 tomarow night. They are one of if not the greatest (modern) ska bands ever, and a huge gig. Its the first band I am opening for that a number of people knew about before I told them.
Here are two links to free downloads at amazon.com

Prg146 - ska has always been more than 'punk with horns.' That being said:
Toots and the Maytals
Desmond Dekker
Trojan Box set
no punk, all ska.
And Catch 22 is a great band too, so they are up next.
Neil Young - Look Out For My Love
Comes A Time LP is spinning.
David Allen Coe - Willie, Waylon, and Me

I'm talking about the 90s (97?) ska revival... better ska (imo) from earlier that is much diffrent from punk with horns, I was just describing the band in way that everyone would understand.
added:
2 hrs untill I go and play. Figured out it has been decided i'm playing the alto sax (could have been keyboard, 12string guitar, or a woodwind of some sort) with a my friends rock band. This is huge because we are the only opening band when there are sometimes as many as six. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I think the ability to take a trumpeter, or even a horn section, out of its traditional context and into something a with a little more, shall we say, boogie, is incredibly admirable. At least in my book. I may be on a slightly different page, though, right now. I'm going to put some Chicago on.

i pulled out the LP's II & IV recently. brings me back to college. i think they were all college educated, with biology and chemistry degrees >> and their music and lyrics reflected it to an extent.
just like my new found jam band, Umphrey's McGee. they are all Notre Dame grad's.

quite possibly my favorite tony williams recording. the ride cymbal he played on this album will go down in jazz history; i believe it's also the ride agop referenced for the tony williams reissue, which isn't out yet. i've heard the prototypes... they are thinner than the production models are to be, but damn.
