Too bad they followed in Metallica's footsteps though. You'd think bands would learn not to sell out, because in the long-haul, you just screw yourself over.

No you don't.
They sell mIllions of records versus thousands.
Personally I usually end up liking the music the closer it gets to selling out. usually the older music is better but there usualy are fewer songs that I can listen to. Matchbox 20 and Linkin Park are some of the few artists who for me this rule doesnt apply.
