Road Cycling - Question re: Astrale 8.0 cadence function

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anybody knoow how to turn it on? I read through the directions and it didn't make a lot of sense to me. I'd love to track cadence if I can figure it out!
*sigh*
Thanks in advance.

It should run independantly from the rest of the system. I can get readings from mine even when the bike is stationary. Make sure the sensor and magnet are very close together. The magnet on my crank needs to be much much closer to the sensor than the one on my wheel.
Hmmm, I'll try to move it a little, but if it doesn't work, I'll take it back to the bike shop and see what they can do. I had this same problem the last time I had the computer installed on my computer, except worse because it wouldn't read anything. I finally just got rid of the stupid thing.
Thanks.

Koffee,
I had one of my sensors bad out of the package those wires can be kinda delicate. Try shorting the two terminals on the left side when your looking at the back. Those are the terminals (two on side) for cadence, rock it back and forth a few times on a knife or piece of metal. If you get a reading that means its your sensor, proceed to the next testing phase, and if you get nothing after rocking it a few times, it's the computer! You can test wiring and sensor, by taking a magnet (perhaps the one off the spokes used for speed, since it's easy to take on and off) and wave it by the wired cadence sensor a few times to see if you get a signal, on mine you can hear a faint click as it opens and closes the contacts. If you do get a reading, than you just need to adjust the sensor so it's closer to the magnet on the crank. If you get nothing it means the sensor itself is bad, or more likely the wire from the sensor to the mount is broken. Good luck, it's really not tough to troubleshoot the problem and usually works out to be the distance between the magnet and the sensor.
