No, the meet-up was cancelled. Frankly, it was *so* packed, I'm not sure whether a meet-up would have worked. You'd have to know each other or assign someone to wear stilts or a gorilla suit (or maybe both).

East Hill, you'd be happy to know that someone had a bunch of old frames for sale in their yard...I stopped to looked -- an old Univega, an old Centurion...several other lugged steel 80's bikes, most under $75 or so. I was tempted, but kept moving...

What's funny is that Keith, Kasha and I ended up finding each other because we chose the same stairwell to get out of the wind. They didn't recognize me until I mentioned riding in from Woodinville this morning. :)

No flats, no walking; even when I was coming up the ridiculous hill that is Madison Ave from the ferry terminal to 15th Ave.
I did suffer a mechanical issue though: The metal tab I mount my headlight on snapped! Luckily I zip tie all my cables, so it didn't fall into my front wheel. I snapped one of the cable ties with my multitool and bungee corded the light to my front rack for the remainder of the ride. I'm going to use a stronger piece of metal to mount it on from here on out.

Did you stick around for the after-party at the finish line? I zipped through it, but went straight for the boats to continue my ride. My original estimate of 13-14mph was about right for the whole ride I did. My legs are going to scream at me tomorrow on the way home.

We stopped at the first rest stop (which took a lot longer than expected) and blasted through the second stop, making it to the finish line a little before noon (11.4 average).

At the finish line we bought some t-shirts, ate some chili, then headed to the ferry doc. We *just* missed the 1:10 ferry, so waited for the 2:05. We finally made it home around 3:30.

And yes, my legs are upset with me already. I can't imagine how yours will be feeling tomorrow. Woodinville-to-Seattle-to-Bainbridge-to-Seattle-to-Woodinville? You da man!

I caught the 11:30 ferry and took a leisurly ride back to Wilmot Gateway. Going up Madison was freakin' insane after 58 miles! I stopped at every intersection for a 30 second breather before continuing another block.
I did a steady 14 - 15mph along the trail once I got there. First I took a pit stop at Magnuson Park, then I took a sit down break and ate a banana at Log Boom Park (the water fountains there are still OFF, in case anyone is heading that way!) then I made it back to Wilmot Gateway. I think I made it home around 3:30pm, too. Not bad on 4.5 hours of sleep and getting a 4:15 wake-up for a 5:30 start.
I think next year I'm going to start from my apartment up here on the Ridge and make it a full century with 7000+ in climbing.

I'm heading out now to pick up a much deserved pizza.

Sorry it didn't work out. Yeah, the cue sheet had lots of turns but there were sooo many bikes, it was pretty easy to follow the crowd. Sorry the rest of our group couldn't make it. Maybe next year.

Thanks for posting the pictures, BengeBoy. I was so sorry to miss it; couldn't be avoided. It looks like it was a lot of fun....and the weather!!!! Wow. I'll have to wait until next year. Anyone lucky enough to get tickets to the Seattle to Vancouver ride this summer? And needs a riding partner?

It was great weather, especially by the time we started at 10 am. We rode 3.5 miles from the Bainbridge house of the relatives to the start line and took off from there. I was the 'sweep' for my group, and there were some slow riders, so it took us longer than I had expected. If anyone saw a middle aged white male on an orange IF and wearing a black helmet with neon green tape and a neon orange long sleeve jersey, that was me!

Keithm0 if you were at the front of the line...we just missed that ferry too. There were about 10 guys ahead of me and they signaled...too many...wait for the next ferry.

My speedometer broke but I timed the ride and knew which gears to used on the hills. Ride time 1:57 minutes for an average of 16.5mi/hr. I took three rests totalling 30 minutes. People kept yelling that was the last hill about 7 hills before the end so I misjudged the number of remaining miles and slowed down.

I rode in early to register and my group took the 9:30 ferry. I'm glad we started a little later. It was beautiful and sunny a little later in the morning. I ended up riding my singlespeed as I did last year. It was fine but I was definitely in better shape last year.

It's always a pleasure to end the ride with a little treat at Blackbird Bakery.

I talked with the guys at Classic Cycles a bit and test rode a Moots(!) while the ladies shopped for yarn. Pretty close to a perfect day really.

It was a beautiful ride, and I ended up seeing a HUGE woodpecker after a stopped to let my friend catch up. All in all it was a terrific ride, I'm definitely doing it again next year.

Hi Nick! Welcome to BikeForums :) .

Sounds as if you saw a Pileated Woodpecker--way cool birds, and I always love seeing them. They're the largest woodpecker in the US (except for the Ivory-billed, which you and I are not likely to ever see).
