Great Lakes - Time for the rollers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The last few years, I have focused on running from Dec thru mid Feb. I find it easier to run in the cold then ride. I ran in the Ft. Lauderdale Marathon last week(only do the half) and now I am getting back into bike mode. I did a few sessions on the trainer and a little spin bike work. Today I pulled out the rollers. I find that the rollers keep my attention much better than the trainer and I seem to get a better workout.
Anyone using the rollers?

Rollers are evil!!! One slip of attention and WHAM, you're on your ass. But besides that it's great for indoor training. In the biggest gear it really puts some resistance on your legs.
I normally do an hour per day at about 160bpm HR to get my miles in.
I always have the eerie feeling that I am going to go flying off the front and into my basement wall.
Definitely requires concentration.

I have about 900 miles on the rollers this winter. I did a century ride on the rollers. I called it the Bourne Century +, as I watch the three Bourne movies and biked 115 miles.
Get outa here!!!!!! A century on the rollers!! That is quite a feat.

Yep. The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremecy, and The Bourne Ultimatum. I am hoping in March, the weather will be good enough for me to do an outside century on a weekend my daughter doesn't have me at some sporting event. Otherwise, it will be a different roller century, but the Bourne century was 115 miles and really wasn't that bad.
