Hey everyone. I'm a new roadbiker coming over from the MTB world. I haven't been on a bike in a few years but after some prodding from my brother (did you get a bike yet? did you get a bike yet?) I'm going to take the plunge into the roadbike world. And I'd be lying if I said watching the Tour of California had no influence on my decision to get a roadbike. I've always been fascinated with stage races like the Tour de France and the Giro de Italia. The opportunity is here so I guess it's my time to hit the road.
I was mountain biking all over Los Gatos (anyone remember Velomeister?) and the Santa Cruz Mountains when mountain biking was a relatively new concept so I have years of cycling experience behind me. Hopefully some of that will transfer over to the tarmac.
So this is what I've been looking at. I want something that climbs good and is comfortable enough for all day and multi-day rides. I'm a big guy (6'5" tall 230 lbs.) so fit is a major issue too. The LBS has an '07 Specialized Roubaix Comp Triple in carbon on sale and I can probably get a good deal on it. I'm also looking at a Specialized Allez Elite Compact, Cannondale Synapse 6 and the Giant OCR A1. I rode the Roubaix around the block and it feels really comfy and racy, I'm riding the others this week.
So anyone else on the Central Coast say hi. I look forward to the lively discussions and hitting the road.
peace,
Robb
