I'm working on a blog for the tour that my wife and I are doing this year. It's hosted at Wordpress. I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to have a map showing our route on the blog that we can also update as we progress. It will be on a separate page so I can maximize real estate on the screen.
Thanks for your help.

Google maps can be embedded now and on the My Maps section, you can add placemarkers. Look at the Clyde/Athena's map on my blog

the wonders of technology.
here's another example of google maps used on a blog. I've been working with local folks to create area bike maps.

I just started blogging for the cycling and other outdoor activities even though I've done "dive reports" on self-hosted sites and other forums for years before they were known as "blogs".

I'm starting with Blogspot primarily because it seems simply and integrates with my google accounts. From reading other's comments about Wordpress, I've checked it out, and it looks like I can import my current blog over to Wordpress if I need more "tweakability" at some point.
Has anyone else tried importing into Wordpress from other blogs? Was it fairly seemless, or did you have to go back and clean-up formatting and such?
thanks,
bob
I haven't gotten around to it myself yet but yahoo pipes has a map badge. The interesting thing about using pipes is that you would be integrating your posts with a self generating map. The way to do it is to take your rss feed, geo encode it, then embedd the pipes badge onto your site. Once it is set up you will have a map with "pin" points that you can hover over to see the post.
Also take a look at roadbikerides.com if you don't feel like setting up the whole mapping thing yourself.
importing from blogspot was fairly easy for a friend of mine that tried it. it looked ok visually but if you look at the html it has a lot of extra stuff going on. also you can get a free wordpress blog at wordpress.com to do a test run with your blog. sign up is quick.
Thanks... I tried it and it worked out nicely!
I'll see what I can come up with on the map integration next!
