I have a new, steel Ritchey Break Away that had a tragic incident when the derailluer got hung up in the wheel and cassette. The hanger was bent badly. I had it straightened but in doing so the hole for the derailleur screw got elongated, had to tap it out...basically it's a mess and I would like to replace the whole dropout. That, or cut it and build a single speed, then buy a new frame.

Any good frame builders in Seattle area? I know of Erickson but would like a few others. Any references you could give me would be great, thanks.

Davidson (Elliott Bay Bicycles) or Rodriguez (R+E Cycles)

Good reco's. I know Davidson's shop better than R&E, but I know that in addition to building frames Elliott Bay seems to do lots of one-off frame repair/restoration jobs.

I've had R+E build 3 bikes for me, 2 singles and a tandem, and I would go to them for any frame repairs I needed. I would not hesitate recommending Davidson either; it's just that I find their location north of Pike Place Market a real PITA to get to. Dennis Bushnell is R+E's head framebuilder and he is one of the best, if not THE best framebuilder in the U.S.
