Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am planning a trip with the family to Southern Spain and Souther France in Sept. Been there before, but not riding. I want to take my bike and ride everyday there. I figured if I am out by 6 AM or so, I can get in 3-4 hours of good riding before I have to be back with the wife and kids to do the rest of the day as a family. I would be going solo on my rides. We don't have plans on specific locations yet, but I am very open.

Please give me links to any routes you may have already drawn in south spain or south france in places like mapmyride.com or others.

Thanks!

There's a coastal road on the coast north of Barcelona. It is the most beautiful place I have ever cycled. Ever!

It was (accidentally) part of an epic journey myself and a few mates did this summer just gone. (London - Barca - Bilbao - London)

Here's the blog entry for that day's riding, which gives a vague idea of where the road is, if you're interested: http://www.bikeeurope.org.uk/news/blog/palamos-barcelona.shtml (yes that is a picture of me :p)

I cannot recommend this road enough... I'll see if i can see some photos of it :D

They don't show it too well though...

That looks gorgeous! I might have to head down that way and over to Bilbao after I've been to Cannes... if I have any energy left lol!

15 years ago I've been riding in South France from Le Puy-en-Velay to Ales and further down south to the little lake we call Mediterranean Sea. But that section mentioned above has great climbs to around 10,000 ft and little traffic and great descents of course. Then from Ales to Uzes to Arles and Camargue State Park where it's more of a flat route.
