So, I had a flat on my ride on sunday. Got everything put together but realized my threadless CO2 cartridges wouldn't fit into the device I had for them. I was on the corner of Old Atascocita road and Clearlake (I think?) in Huffman.
The first riders to stop for me were a man and lady who were kind enough to let me use a co2 cartridge. I got back on the road but my tire wasn't set right - a friendly gentleman on a Pinarello came by and fixed that. Finally, mechanical problems with my rear shifter overtook me on the ride home (bike is stuck in highest gear) and a friendly cyclist on a Trek with his son let me ride back to their place (much closer and not entirely in a headwind) and gave me a ride home.
I always stop and offer to help cyclists on the road and it was really great to see how helpful and trusting cyclists are towards each other. Even though my ride was plagued with mechanical problems I stayed cheery and in a good mood as the day was beautiful and I was out to do intervals, so getting stuck in my highest gear probably was a better workout than I otherwise would have gotten. Thanks for being such a great community, NE houston!
