So I was reading my local paper yesterday. Just so you know my paper comes out every three days because that's how small my town is. There was an interesting article about Lance Armstrong doing a ride for cancer survivors, and it's supposed to come right through our town. They are supposed to stop at the Moose Lodge nearby.

I was hoping they would come through close to cincinnati but they aren't. They are coming through a couple hours North of here. :(

A friend of mine is going to see him in Indy.
He had the same cancer as Lance did.
He seems fine now.
He also got operated on by a few of the same people.
I told him to take his Gary Fisher there and get it signed!
I think it's this wednesday.

On Saturday, I volunteered at the Tour of Hope kickoff in Los Angeles and saw Lance at the opening ceremonies. There were about 600 cyclists riding the metric century. Lance rode the first 10 miles or so and then left to do more press and publicity.

The bright yellow Treks the 26 Tour of Hope cyclists are riding look pretty cool.

Okay, well I read the article again today. The paper came out Friday, and they were through our town on Sunday the 12th. I missed them. And apparently they are running in a form of relay. It wasn't clear if Lance was doing to whole thing or if they were passing off the ride to another group periodically. But either way, I missed it all together. Sorry guys.

Is the 600 riders an guess or an announced attendance? I thought there were 1500 riders originally registered, but they had to raise the $500 in donations. I am riding the Washington DC ride on October 18 and they have extended the deadline for donations twice.

It would be nice to have Lance and 599 other rider rather than 1499 other riders, but I am sorry they did not raise they money they were expecting.

I heard from a volunteer who spoke with one of the organizers that 590 cyclists were signed up for the LA ride. I'm guessing the 1500 number is for the total number of riders signed up for the LA and DC rides.
