Just watned to share (brag) :o a little

I still have the lovely certificate that Tom prepared for me on 12/6/2007 pinned on my wall at work when I officially became a Clyde Emeritus. As of Saturday I am now down to 190 (actually weighed in at 188 after hard 2 hour trainer ride so I was conservative in calling it at 190) which is staying pretty much on that one pound a week pace I have been aiming for. In fact, since 6/1/2007 I have lost 30 pounds which is just a whisker under 1 pound a week. My methodology has been simple. Try to take in about 3500 calories a week less than I use. I've been using fitday.com to track my calories and various other tools to track my calorie expenditures from exercise.

To top it off I'm getting stronger and faster on the bike (quantified on the computer aided trainer I have been using all winter) and in much better shape (quantified by resting heart rate measurements and heart rate tracking during workouts).

I feel awesome and I wanted to tell the world. I can't wait to get outdoors as the weather turns nicer (and lighter). On my way to 170 pounds (or so). 20 to go.

Oh yeah...and I want a new bike :mad::D

Sounds like great progress. good on you!

Are you finding it harder to lose weight as you get thinner. Are you having to increase your exercise?

Nice job!

The 'new bike' reward worked well for me. Set your goal and work toward it, when you get there: New Bike Time!

The answer is yes and no :D

I've kept a pretty steady 1 pound a week pace for 8 months. So in that respect it hasn't slowed down. However, I started doing things differently as a natural progression as I got further into it. I started tracking my caloric intake so I knew how much I was eating. I did this as much as to make sure I was eating enough for harder workouts as much as for making sure I didn't over eat. But it sort of came as a side effect of cycling. I also have continued to increase the intensity of my training. Not because I was after weight loss, but I started to feel more fit and was interested in going faster an increasing my power. Again, a side effect of cycling for me.

Thanks guys! I'm glad there is a place to come for kudos. I just felt great today!!

Weeeeee!!!!

:D

So yes, I have improved my diet and yes I now work out a lot harder than I did when I started. But for some reason if hasn't seemed harder. It just seems like more fun! :D

Great job! I will never see the lighter side of 200. What's it like down there?

Thanks. Just depends on how you are built and what's right for you.

Legs are stronger. Carrying less weight. Hills are much easier to climb than they used to be :D
