Would any other Pacific Northwesterners be interested in a sticky thread here devoted exclusively to buy 'n sell in the Pac. NW only? One of the 'other' forums I belong to has it and it has functioned quite well and does not seem to get abused.

I know it's not a usual 'thing' - - but seems to me like it could be a valuable resource for getting things in front of a more local audience. It would not supplant the For Sale forum - - in fact, it would probably be good from a server-space standpoint to provide links to your 'ad' there; I just thought we might all find it a useful tool.

For instance, I have a frame for sale and would consider most any sale in the Puget Sound Basin a 'local' sale, in that I'd be willing to deliver it on my way to see my son in Bellingham, saving everyone the hassles of shipping and of buying something over the internet.

I have not checked with the admins to see whether or not they might frown on it; but I thought I'd guage reaction here and then decide if it's worth broaching with them. Anyone?

Yes, I can see where this could be useful. I know a lot of the C & V folks could possibly make use of it. It might be useful for the Canadians on the B.C. border, too. I've read enough horror stories about shipping to/from Canada that this might be very handy. Even if I don't necessarily have anything to trade, I'd be willing to schlep things here and there to help out if I can.

Sounds good to me........Craigslist works too, but I would give preferance to BF members by way of deals and all. I've usually got way to much bike stuff on hand and would love another local outlet.

I think this would be a great idea. I use craigslist a lot because I hate to deal with the shipping end of things. I like the idea of offering to local BF people first.

Oh, I forgot to mention too that I would of course be willing to moderate it as far as keeping spammish stuff out and keeping it exclusively PNW (either side of the border of course). You could use either the "report thispost" tool or PM me directly.

I thought of it too because we are a big "community," really. I've advertised on the B'ham craigslist only because I know I get there often enough (or connect with my son) to where I could arrange a 'local' sale; but I still feel a bit funny about it because of their admonishments to only deal locally. I feel somewhat like an interloper. This would be a bit more regional in flavor.

You would have to split Hawaii out into it's own sticky.

Well I have a Sprite Raleigh Frame stripped all the way down to the metal. All parts except for the chain and derailers. Its a slope tube.

Good point!

I'll be - - I hadn't noticed Hawaii was a part of this - - why did they do that? Anyway, no reason that couldn't be done. I'll leave this brewing today, guage response, then clear it with an admin.

Sounds good to me, you may want to e-mail bike clubs here on the east side and give them a heads up on the Bike Forums and a possible new Thread
