CSOM
Hi all,
First time posting in this area of BF. Anyway, my family and friends seem to enjoy our ride reports each year pre- and post-ride for the MS150. I thought I would post our fund raising letter on here. If any of you feel so inclined to donate, even $5 or $10, we really appreciate it. If not, well, if nothing else, I hope you enjoy the read.

Well, it's that time of year again.... and by that we mean training season for us. We have started training again for the annual BP MS150 bike tour. The MS150 is a cycling challenge in various cities around the nation that raises money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis research. We will be departing Houston early on the morning of Saturday, April 12 for 180 miles of wide open rolling Texas highways, among wildflowers and roadkill, over two days on our way to the state capital building in downtown Austin.
We started our training this year on Sunday, January 20th on a crisp Sunday morning under a perfectly clear sky. (For those of you stuck in the north thinking a bike ride in South Texas sounds pretty good right about now... it was 37 degrees when we started). Over the next 8 weeks we will be travelling to a number of small south-eastern Texas towns to work our legs back in to shape for the challenge in April, and likely eating too much BBQ on the drives back home (which I guess could help cushion the ride...).
The 2007 ride (CSOM Gal's first ride to Austin!) was a record-setting ride for the MS Society in terms of riders and funds raised to combat MS. The 2008 ride is already another record setter, and the pedals haven't even turned yet. The excitement and desire to ride for this cause filled all 13,000 spots in a matter of just 11 days... in October... 6 months before the ride! The Houston to Austin MS150 is still the largest, by far, in the nation, and this year’s ride has already raised over $2.3 Million, towards a goal of $14 Million, for Multiple Sclerosis research. For this effort we are asking for your support. Any support you can give, whether it be well wishes, prayers, or contributions will be greatly appreciated.
There are multiple ways to donate for this cause. Checks can be made payable to National MS Society and sent to us for submission. Otherwise you can go directly to our individual donation pages at:
CSOM - http://www.ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=207790
CSOM Gal – http://www.ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=214557
If your company does matching contributions for donations, those would be appreciated as well.
Please feel free to forward this on to anyone that you think would be willing to support us in this effort this year. Also, please let us know how we can help support any of your favorite causes.
Once again, thank you for all of your support in this and we hope to see you all in the coming year.
