OK, I'll bite. How about this? It's the 150K route from the Santa Cruz Radonneurs, except we'll start from Half Moon Bay.
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e157/sesamecrunch/lahondarambleoverviewmap2.gif
Say 8:30 meetup at the HMB Fire Station, corner of Higgins Canyon Rd. and Main Street.

Looks very challenging with headwind on the way back.
I'm in - depending on how late I'm working the finish check-in the night before for the San Francisco 300K brevet ...

Not quite.
Here's the description from the Santa Cruz Randonneurs website (http://pages.prodigy.net/scrandonneurs/index.html):
La Honda 150K Populaire:This is a good early season ride to build your fitness before trying a 200k brevet. The route goes north along the ocean highway from Santa Cruz, then turns into the coastal hills on Gazos Creek road. From there the route passes through serene redwood forests. Ascending Haskins Hill before La Honda is the hardest climb of the day and the final mile before the summit will test everyone's legs. There are also numerous short climbs along the route and most riders will be glad they brought a triple crankset along, while the strongest riders will want a 39x27 low gear in spots. From San Gregorio and Pescadero, the route retraces itself back to Santa Cruz. All in all, it will be a fine day of cycling--but come prepared with clothing layers for variable spring weather that might make the brevet even harder.
So you're mistakin' Tunitas Creek for Rt 84/La Honda Rd. I believe SesameCrunch is talking about going down Hiway 1, then up 84 from San Gregorio to La Honda, then back down Pescadero Rd (over Haskins Hill) towards Pescadero bakery.
According to this route, after Pescadero you do down Cloverdale past Butano State Park, to Gazos Creek Rd to rejoin Hiway 1.
SC, after that, would you want to continue down Hiway 1 towards Santa Cruz, or head back north after Gazos Creek?
Could head partway towards Santa Cruz, say as far as Ano Nuevo or Davenport bakery and then head back. Gazos Creek Rd to Davenport is about 15 miles each way.
Also, one could do the Gazos Creek/Cloverdale/Stage Rd portion heading north, depending on the wind.

I was thinking we'd first zip all the way down Hwy1 (maybe stopping at Davenport instead of Santa Cruz). Then go back North (before it gets too windy), head inland at Gazos Creek for a more leisurely, scenic pace along Cloverdale. At Pescadero, we'll climb a little bit up Haskins Hill, then back down Hwy 84.
Since we're starting in HMB, we would just turn around at Davenport, instead of going all the way to Santa Cruz (that would make the ride over 100 miles).
Oh, did I mention that there's a mandatory stop at the bakery in Pescadero :o? Yummmmm.

Edit: The same group can join me in return be heading up 84 after Haskins then up W OLH to 35 down E 84 and back

Glad to hear you and your wife will join us. It will indeed be less than a century. I figure around 80 miles. It will also be relatively flat. You'll also have a bailout option to not climb Haskins Hill. I can guarantee a pleasant ride for her!!

OK, no one's biting on the longer route starting around San Mateo.
I guess, I will start in HMB. I usually try to start all rides from my house (using transit if necessary). ;)
Is there a bikely map of the route? How many miles and how many feet of climbing?

Your bikely map didn't quite show up right on my screen. Don't know if it's this Mac I'm using currently.
I do think 90 miles and about 5000 ft sounds right. We could shorten it by turning around at Ano Nuevo or something like that. Depends on what the group wants to do. It's definitely not a super hilly route, though (whew!). Maybe some go to Davenport, some can turn around at Ano Nuevo. If we get back around the same time, perhaps we can grab a bite together. I'll pick out a good spot for us.

Hey Marco, if you didn't want to ride over I could leave a little early and swing by to pick you up. I do have room for another bike on the rack, just can't guarantee a no nick ride for it.

Bikely doesn't work well on Safari, use Firefox, and it works fine on the Mac.

Heya. Random question for you, taxi. Were you out riding in San Francisco along the Embarcadero/Marina area today? I swear I saw someone who looked just like you who said Hi. If so, I was the dinky looking asian kid with khaki shorts above bike shorts on a Giant TCR. I yelled something about my bottom bracket being broke to the mystery rider. Might've come off poorly so if it was you, just an FYI that it was a Hiya. If not, sorry for blowing your time. :D

Maybe,.. I was wearing grey, yellow kit, on my black/yellow trek. I think I remember, but I get so zoned out when I'm by myself and hyper focused with all the traffic and joggers/doggers. Well hi again, and next time just squirt your water bottle at me, or better yet whip it at my head and I'll probably look up! :)

So tempted, but I'm committed to wrapping up some work on Sunday  so that I can transfer to my new department on Monday. :)
I am hoping to make it. My band goes on last Saturday night so it will be a late night but I never sleep much before a group ride. As long as there is at least 4000 feet of climbing or else I am a miserable sob to be around.

Marco:
Glad your girlfriend is joining us! Looking at the list of folks, it should be a nice social ride (as long as you don't take off on us :p)
And yes, your Bikely route is correct. Except that I think we'll likely turn around sooner than Davenport. I'm not keen on getting hung up in the wind in the afternoon.

Well, I was out there for a short ride today, and it was windy! 20-25 miles according to the weather sites. I was going 10-12 mph on the flats! If it's the same conditions tomorrow, here's my suggestion for Plan B - the Bucolic Backroads Tour.
We would zip down Hwy1 until Gazos Creek (25miles). Then we head inland along beautiful Cloverdale Rd. Then, I think a lunch stop at Pescadero would be lovely. Choice of top notch bakery, deli, and Duarte's wonderful sandwiches. Then we head up Haskins Hill, down Hwy84 to San Gregorio. Stop at the General Store for a potty break, maybe listen to some music. Then climb up 1/4 of the way up Tunitas Creek until Lobitos Creek. That's one of my favorite roads here - farm country, nice views, no cars. Finally, a last climb up Purissima Creek Rd, and back to the Fire Station. It'll be 70 miles and 4200 ft. We can decide at the last minute tomorrow. Here's the bikely link: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Bucolic-Backroads-Tour
See y'all then!
