its an old 520, would probably be fine. just get some better wheels for it with 36 spokes

I guess the only other issue then is the fact that the frame I'm looking at is 57cm and the one I'm riding now is 63cm. My current bike is too big for me however, by a couple of inches, so I'm thinking it would be fine to ride something smaller. I just don't know how much I would be effected over a long with a bike that may be one or two centimeters too short for me.

Yeah, I think size might be an issue here. dat 57CM bike would probably be just fine for me (I'm 5'10"), so I'd worry that it would be a tad short -- especially in the seat to stem length.
On the other hand, it looks dang clean... just a smidge short maybe. We can find somethin'
