My advice, avoid Dysentery at all costs. It's not fun in ANY way. What did I miss in the last 5 days while I was trying not to die?

I have to agree that it doesn't sound like much fun...BUT...you didn't miss any drama, just people enjoying themselves.
Have you recovered, or are you still weak?

Was this amoebic dysentery? I think my husband had that once when he was in the Phillipines.

Yeah. It was a bacteria that got in me and I'm taking antibiotics for it now.

Did you know that diarrhea is hereditary?
Yeah, it runs in your genes. :D
Glad you're okay, lucky.
But I must admit, I'll be looking for an Apple II emulator when I get home, along with a disk image of The Oregon Trail...

Just for the nostalgia of it?

I had a bad bout of food poisoning once. Lost 15 lbs in a week. Had to be interviewed by the CDC before returning to work. Not good. Others have died from the same sickness.
Putting antibiotics in chicken feed is not a good idea.

Just trying to lighten the mood with a topical joke.
I don't write them, just tell them. I also do avoid dysentery at all costs...with 100% success so far. I can relate though as I got colitis while in the hospital from the heavy duty antibiotics they worthlessly gave me as SOP (antibiotics do nothing for a fungal infection). Lost 17 lbs in 10 days. :(
Get well soon :)

I went from 165 on Wed in running shorts to 155 in dress clothes by Sunday. When you figure out that dress clothes are 4-5 lbs (minimum, including shoes) that equates to 14ish lbs in 5 days. I haven't weighed since then because I'm kind of worried what it would say.
Glad you are getting better
Sorry you missed the "Post in this thread and get $1000 free" thread. I am using mine to buy a cross bike and a BMX bike.

Dysentery is SO much more than food poisoning. I'm pretty good now though, only mild unsettled feelings left in my gut. Hopefully the rest will go away soon too.
In the military we did a lot of traveling around world and we always got the "here is how not to get food poisoning or other foodborne illness while deployed" briefings prior to leaving home. I survived no problems. Then comes one fateful low-threat hop across the country to Tucson which was a staging area to launch our 6 jets to join about 40 jets into the bombing ranges north of Vegas. A chicken salad sandwich at Jason's Deli and six hours later I'm into full blown salmonella poisoning. I miss the big party in Vegas but I'm grateful the tops of the trash cans in the Doubletree Hotel in Tucson are level with the top of the bed to make puking that much more convienient. Not sure how much weight I lost but I was one miserable camper for 2 days.
