Road Cycling - My first metric century

Ok I never post but I have to toot my own horn Yesterday I completed my first metric century
It was 66.5 miles and a hell of a lot of hills (For me anyway) someone said it was 4800 feet it took me 4.5 hrs not sure if that good or bad.

This didn't happen to be the Tour de Poway yesterday, is it?

Congratulations, I did my first metric century about a week ago. Took me 4.75 hrs.

I used to live near Poway, in a place called, if I remember right, Rancho Bernardo. And there are a lot of hills around there! Makes the ride that much more satisfying.

I did my first metric century on September 20, 2003, at the Seacoast Century from Hampton, NH, to York, ME, and back. It also took me about 4.5 hours.

Chalk up another 1st metric century. I did 64 miles in the Kitsap Colors Classic with the Cascade cycling club. Took me about 4.5 hours as well.

Congrats to all on your metric centuries. I guess we did our first metric this weekend as well. My husband and I did 78 on Saturday, longest before that was 60 miles. It was tough, many miles of rough road, but we lived to tell about it.

yeah, i had fun. i rode to the start and completed the loop then headed back home. it was a total of 85 miles. i learned a lot from the paceline i joined. it was a pretty fast bunch. after the climb out of highland valley and bandy canyon strung us out, we broke up into our ragtag groups. i completed the ride just (the official route) just shy of 3-1/2 hours. i gotta confess, i was tempted to just head on home after hitting the top of the hill of rancho bernardo road---all i had to do was go straight instead of make left and i'd be piggin' out at the fridge! but the devil possessed me and forced me to finish the circuit---then i headed home.

this is a good training loop to do on long rides as all i have to do is step out the door. i can only imagine doing the loop backwards is so much more tougher!!! yikes!!!

Well, 4800' of climbing is a pretty good amount. With that amount of climbing in a metric, your time is quite respectable.

I thought about doing the same thing then I remembered I live 1 block from the park :D

While you're still feeling like the metric century is within reach, you should definitely head out and do a century ride (100 mile ride, that is).
