Just had to share my joy!

A couple of months ago my wife announced that she wanted to get a road bike. (She has not ridden a bike at all in about 20 years.) I though thats great, we can do some leisurely rides together. It turns out that may not be the case for long. After lots of test rides, (She is 5'1", so we had fit issues) she ended up getting a 47cm 2002 Trek 2000, and then we left for 3 weeks in Australia. Well she has been riding for about three weeks now. I think the bug has bit hard! I know some of it is because I have been helping train her in a non-pushy manner. Also, many of the friends in the bike club have taken her under their wing also.

Though the pace is still building, she sure got the miles in this weekend. 62 miles on Sat @ 14.5 average. 56 on Sunday with a 14.1 average. (We did the Hartman Bridge on Sunday...that one got her, but she made it to the top without stopping.) She sure is advancing faster than I did. Now that she has the saddle time / miles, she can work on that speed. I think she has gotten hooked. Her goal is to be able to ride with some of our friends in the 20mph range, then advance up and stay with the fast folks. I guess I have to start training some more so I can actually stay with the big dogs.

(Sorry, had to brag on her...)

After hearing all the "I want my wife to get a bike threads" I never pushed her to do it. I know she liked spending time with the members of the club, and I am sure that that had a big part to do with it. Then again, I would not have gotten hooked so much if I had not run into a great club.

That's great, my wife insisted that I get her a bike also. She is getting there a little slower, or so it sounds. her problem is I go to train and she tries to stay with me, which she can't do, yet, and I emphasize the yet. Anyway great for the two of you. ;)
