Northern California - Is anyone here riding the Wine Country Century?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Marco, I'm staying with either X or Bostic. If you're heading up for dinner, we could discuss it with them then. When do you plan to head up? Maybe we could carpool.

HEY! I got two points to make here! So LISTEN UP!!
Marco, we'll figure out something between us all for sleeping quarters...No sleeping with the racoons... and we'll plan on you getting up there for some food with the Soprano's...
Point 2...Geesh you guyz stop whinning about if you can make it or not...For crying out loud Ron you have enough lifetime base milage and fortitude to do the 200k on a BMX with a single gear! I'll give you a push everytime you slow down and shoot my water bottle at you like I did Sunday in Calaveras when you start nodding off... Now just stop it!!! Don't be such a wicked Retaad!!

This reminds me when I did the Wildflower years back ... I didn't do a lot of riding, and really felt I was only in shape to do the 50. My friend Lynn, sees me at the lunch stop, and says "What is this 50 mile bull****" ... ripped up the route slip, and ended up doing 100. Not sure if that will happen this Saturday. But you know me ... whining is in my nature. It builds character!

Bad news:
(Note: I'm still going)
Commuting home from work today, I was taking off from a stop sign in a relatively high gear (and out of the saddle to accelerate). So I had a high amount of load on the pedals, when *bam* the chain skipped, and my left knee slammed into the handlebars very hard.
I am limping around right now, and I think it will be a bit black/blue, but already feels better. So I think I will be ok by the weekend.

It seems I am in. I was able to get a ticket on Craigslist. I haven't touched my bike in 3 weeks but the plan is to go for the 200K.
Not sure yet when I will be heading to Santa Rosa. I don't have a place to stay for the night so I might leave Lafayette very early Saturday. It would be great to meet you guys at the start. I usually like to start as early as possible.

Are we going with the NorCal identity, and showing everyone who we are? Or are we going with showing our individuality? If the former, I'll wear my NorCal jersey, but if the latter, I'll wear my Cal Triple Crown jersey.

I'll were my black/yellow NorCal kit. Seems like there's a lot of different jerseys people will be wearing though.

I rode to caltrain today. My knee is all puffed up and huge. I can't really put the power down at the moment, but once I get moving it's cool.
Hopefully this changes by Saturday, so climbs wont be an issue.
