THere is a book signing with lance tomorrow i want to go but am iffy if it is worth all the hassle and waiting. i dont think there will be too many people there it being tuesday afternoon and not very advertides. has anyone ever been to one of these? I dont know what to expect. i am way more excited about actually being within sight of him rather than getting a book signed. a picture would be awesome but not going to happen.
Go past the store, and if the line is long, you'll know whether or not you'll want to stand around. If you get all into it, you'll wait, but you won't know until you get there.
I once went to see Gheri Ryan (7 of 9 from Star Trek, Voyager) at a book signing at some store downtown. I felt hopeful that we wouldn't be waiting long, so I got in the line. The line snaked for about two blocks around the corner for hours before she was to even have arrived, and it was like 100 degrees F outside and 90% humidity, no shade, and the weirdos in line were freakin' me out. After waiting an hour, I left. I never even got the chance to see her, but I just felt like there was only so much I could take.

My mom waited for two hours once to get LeMond to sign a poster for me. My name is Brian but he must have misunderstood her since he signed it "To Ryan."
I'm still kinda bummed though I appreciate her effort.

Get there early....he's in Indy on Wednesday for an event to support the Indiana University Cancer Center (where Lance was cured) and is to be at Conseco Fieldhouse (home of the Pacers). All the tickets, about 18,000+ worth are gone.
There has been a lot of pub about his appearances on sites frequented by cyclists and the cancer community. Between those folks, that's a helluve lot of people.

If you're interested, Laggard, I have a friend that's tight with LeMond. I can find out if he's going to be close to your area, then see if he'd be willing to sign the bike and right the wrong!
You was robbed! ;)
Seriously, let me know, and I'll contact my buddy.

Doesn't he still live around here? I can't remember.
But that would be cool.
Thanks.
I have no idea where the boy lives.
Drop me a PM as a reminder. I'm in the middle of working on some stuff right now, so I'm pretty scattered in the mind...

i called barnes and noble early today and they told me people were already waiting outside at 8:00 and the signing is at 1-2 pm, he's only there for an hour. I would have to travel 40 minutes to go there and try to park in the middle of manhattan and in the middle of times square. I am going to call again now and ask them if the line is really long or not. i doubt very much i will be going. I shoul dhav eplanned it to go there and wait in the am, its in a very very busy part of the city.
Yep, not worth it. Better to wait for another opportunity to catch him. I would not travel 40 min to get in a line that's already forming at 8am for the "chance" to get a book signed. I'm sure there will be better opportunities for that book to be signed.

I got Lance's autograph back in '93, right after he'd won the worlds. He was racing downtown here and beforehand was sitting in the team car signing autographs and having his picture taken.
There was a full page pic in Velo News - the one of him crossing the finish line, arms up in the air? Anyway, he signed that. I wish I could find the damn thing.

You blasphemer!
You better find it, or else the whole LeMond thing is off!
;)
J/K. I hope you find it.

Isn't Cipher on this board fairly tight with Greg? I'm pretty sure they've done some riding together.

i called back B&N and they said the line was from 5th to 6th ave plus inside the store, for those of you who have never walked an avenue in nyc its damn far. The girl on the phone was amazed at all the people, that was at 11:00 with 2 hours to go. Later a woman i know tells me her husband is a police officer in charge in that district and he could have gotten it done for me. He also could have gotten me backstage at Letterman yesterday to meet him. Now she tells me! She said she had no idea i was a fan
I went to the book signing last Thurs (9th) here in Austin. The line extended around the entire store... I was one the last in line.
Let's see... book signing started at 8pm, I got there around 8:30pm, left about 9:15-9:30 I think.
Lance is such a skinny man. :)
