I'm not sponsoring this ride but I will be there and thought I'd spread the word.
We meet Sunday, March 23rd at the South entrance to Myrtle Edwards park on the Seattle waterfront. The group leaves at 1:00 and takes a social pace ride to Alki Beach in West Seattle for a picnic. The route is less than 10 miles and is almost totally flat as it follows the shoreline all the way.
These are always fun meet-n-greet rides for the local bike geeks. Cargo bikes are NOT required for participation. It's always great to see new faces and different machines. These rides are always family friendly and there will be a few kids there. This is a public area so if you plan on bringing adult beverages, be discrete.
Bring charcoal for the BBQs, stop at the Pike Place Market on the way and pick up some goodies, or just show up and grab a cup of coffee from one of the coffee shops at the beach.

Well this ride is next weekend so I'm bumping the thread back to the top.
I finished building up my Big Dummy yesterday so there will be at least one there, probably a few. If you want to get ideas for your build, come check 'em out even if you don't have yours yet.
Here's a preview;

Very nice Big Dummy. Thanks for the photo. What kind of front rack did you use? I'm still waiting for my frame to show up. DRATS!

The front rack is a Nashbar item. They make a little combo pannier/top bag for it but don't buy it. The bag is junk. The rack is kind of small but it's good for strapping on something no bigger that a case of beer. For that it has been tested and works well.
I know of at least one and maybe two shops here in Seattle that have Big Dummy frames in stock. If you ordered through a local shop, haven't gotten one yet and it isn't in the hands of your shop, most likely you're out of luck until August.
PM me if you want heads up on who's got a Dummy in stock. Neither of the shops do mail order so you would have to visit the shop to get the frame.

I'll be at Alki, but for a family thing. I might try and head to the beach and see if I can find you all. Hope the weather holds out for the ride.

Anyone know the route from the park to alki? I would LOVE to do this, but I just injured myself snowboarding. So I'd like to do it sometime in the future with the wifey.

You head South on Alaskan Way from Myrtle Edwards. You can either use the MUP that runs under the Viaduct or the road. If you use the trail be very careful, cars do no pay attention when they cross Thur trail. The trail ends at Royal Brougham then you cross over to Alaskan Way. Take that south to Spokane street and go right on the Sidewalk. You will be able to take trail all the way to the beach. At the Spokane Street Bridge the trail jumps to the other side of the road. then crosses back over on the other side (runs behind the Chelan Restaurant) at Harbor Ave make a right and the trail will take you all the way to the point. It is 10 miles and with the exception of the Spokane Bridge it is all flat.
