In packs of humans, (examples-leaving a sports stadium, concert, or large event) the faster individuals gravitate to the outside, slower members generally get sucked into the inside of the pack by simple movement dynamics, and more vulnerable members (children, elderly) protected and assisted by other members of the group. additionally, humans leaving sports stadiums, concert halls, etc, often move en masse and ignore signals directing correct interactions with other traffic and move mob-like across all public space.
I've often come riding downhill past Seattle's Paramount theatre as a show is getting out and have to stop, with a green light, as mobs of people stream across the intersection with disregard to the road or signals or presence of traffic.
