What's sad is that many "cyclists" could not ride this without going into the drink or weaving into the other portion of the roadway.

If more "cyclists" could consistently ride within a one foot wide zone, there would be more competent, confident cyclists on the roads. And less hand-wringing and fear mongering about all of the hazards allegedly associated with simply riding a bicycle on the road.

I could ride it, I split cars in traffic daily. Although sometimes I use them as bumpers, but that's mostly when they are moving.

I could ride this. I can also walk narrow ledges, doesn't mean I want to take regular walks on ledges on high rooftops though. Same with this, if failure means going into the drink I'd like room for greater margin of error. That being said, I think that picture is either a fake or the lane exists as a joke. Not totally unfunny. :)

Actually, the lane looks wide enough, but I would definitely avoid that shoulder with the bike symbol.

I ride that route every day on my 3" roadie.:D

On the other hand, draw two lines that narrow and I could probably ride it, it's the water that dooms me to fail.

Seeing as there is a bridge post in the middle of the lane I'm thinking it was an afterthought on a very narrow road.

Is that "bike lane" (haha) even as wide as a bikes handlebars? I'll agree that not many cyclists could keep it in that lane, but then how many motorists could successfully keep their vehicle in a 6 foot lane without problems? This would be the same as expecting a cyclist to stay in the pictured lane.

If this street were in the US, there would be safety rails, nets on the water side, flashing lights, and signs every 6 inches warning of hazards beyond imagination - especially for children! ... Protecting us from ourselves ~

managed to take a tumble into the Ali Wai Canal, and it has a decent sidewalk (which bicyclist are prohibited from using by the way).

I could ride it, I routinely ride on the curb tops just playing around.

Fixation, as mentioned, is what will trip most people up.
