I purchased a new Merlin Extralight frame on ebay. I think it is made for an integrated style headset, it has a machined lip about 1/2 inch up from the bottom of the head tube. Do you need a special fork for this kind of headset? Wouldn't a normal looking fork with rounded crown look a little strange?

I think I can build this thing o.k. with the help of my Zinn road bike repair book. But they don't address integrated headsets very well. I haven't ordered a fork or build kit yet so no damage done yet.
Thanks

I think any fork can be used as long as it is compatible with the headset.

To be sure, bring your frame to your LBS, I'm sure they will have something that you like..

[Te;; Merlin to throw in a headset. They should do for free.

Intergrated HS come in various sizes. If they will not send you one for free ask them what brand/size they take.

Fork? Buy an Integrated model. They look nicer. Want a nice one? Get a Reynolds. But there are a few less priced brands out there.
