So how's the August weather in GA now? I'm heading back to GA from Charleston on Friday and plan to do some riding on Saturday? I live in the Athens area which always seems to be the hottest and coldest area in Ga for some odd reason.

This is my second Summer here in GA and I am finally used to the heat/humidity. I moved here from Illinois where it was really flat so the hills were also a big change. Now that I ride hills all of the time I really enjoy it, especially the gaps. The climbs are long enough to force you to work at it and the roads are generally in good repair. If you pace yourself and drink enough water you will have a great time:thumb:

It's pretty damn hot and humid still. Went for a ride this morning and it was nice but coming back, even at 11:30am, it was unbearable.

Gotta drink your fluids and wear those shades.

Whats the weather like in Charleston right now?

I have relatives in Hilton Head so the weather there is probably similar to where you are.

Big thanks to everyone in this thread for your advice, especially Donegal and FlashUNC for the PMs.

I had a great time riding Neels (once from each side), Wolf Pen, and even took on Brasstown Bald on Friday. That Brasstown is a nice little roller. Note to self: don't stop halfway up the wall....getting clipped back in is a b****! But I made it all the way up regardless. :D

Also did a fast ride out of Dunwoody this morning with a big group, including FlashUNC. I didn't realize I was chasing down the A group early in the ride until we turned around and didn't see anyone coming behind us, so I tucked in and hung on until the halfway point. Stayed with the B's after the break along the river and its hills. Fun ride with a great group.

And whoever dialed up this excellent weather.... thank you!
