Ken Hoffman is a columnist with the Houston Chronicle. He rides in the Houston-Austin MS 150, and is also the fast food critic. He was hit by a truck while riding in his neighborhood.

He's a bit banged up, but no major injuries. With this in the paper, I hope they find the SOB that hit him, and hang him high.
Too lazy to click, so I assume it was a hit and run?
He'll be in my prayers tonight. I hope they find the idiot who ran him down. :-/

Hit and run is a pretty accurate description. One thing I've always wondered is the real need for trucks in residential streets. Surely highways or arterials are better able to cope with them.

Wasn't Houston one of the cities where Clear Channel DJs encouraged aggressive behavior towards cyclists?

I'm glad he's OK.
Fast food critic sounds like a terrible job. Do the folks that eat fast food really pay attention to critiques. That would be sort of like asking what kind of wine goes with potato chips ? If it is greasy, salty, and sugary enough people will generally love it. That seems like a simple rule.

Yes, it is (KLOL-FM in Houston was the offending station). I was on the morning ride with Ken that he mentions in his article -- ironic that he made it through a long ride with no problem, only to get mowed down in his own neighborhood.
Given the drivers actions after the accident I think there
might be a good case for clear channel to be worried.
Chris, by Truck I am assuming that he means pickup truck, not one of the big ones.
Lets see, hit and run and the victim is a well known
(well liked?) journalist in the area, if I were the driver
I'd be really worried, and I hope they nail the guy.

Hoffman is a pretty popular guy in the area. His columns tend toward the funny human-interest stuff and he's a regular at a lot of local events around Houston. Also, he sometimes appears as a guest on Chris Baker's radio program on KPRC 950 AM, which incidentally is a Clear Channel station. As Popeye would say, "Wat a coinkydink..."

Ken says he is one big sore muscle, but will survive.
