you might want to get some shinguards. After a month of cutting your legs, you will wise up if you decide against them.

those are the pedals i was considering. tell me how they are once you get the chance to rty them
I have those pedals. I broke one piece on one side but it's not that big of a deal. I replaced them because I don't like the size of them. and I only have size 8 feet.
but they grip well, I just didn't like the size....
Definately get shin guards. I've got permanent scars all over my right shin from my Snafu's. I don't really mind them because it's badass to have stories, but I always wear shinguards now.

Yea, be like me and BAC, get some scars, then buy the guards!
the fronts of both of my shins are complete scar tissue. no hair grows on them anymore either. i really don't care but most people seem to....
My pedals are still the best in making leg-holes :D
Chuvak if you really want to rip up your shins you need these:

From memory, I think they're around 800g+ or so. Not for the weight weenies.... :D
I can see that on this forum as fast as you can type in something about weight there will always be someone to mention “weight weenies” Let me tell you something, all of us are weight weenies! The whole bike industry is! You wouldn’t buy a 30 lb bike over 40lb? Or how about your frame? Is it Steel or maybe Aluminum, Carbon or Ti? If a person wants to make his bike lighter that what’s wrong with that? Like if you had a chance you wouldn’t………! Booyah, I am not trying to start a fight. I am relating this massage not only to you but also to everyone on this site. Don’t let this offend you, I’m just saying what's on my mind and how I fill about this issue.
Now, I was asking the weight of those because they look like a solid block of aluminum. I was trying to make a joke for god sake :D

Chuvak: take it easy. I made no comment for or against 'weight-weenie-ism'. I put a big grinning face after the damn comment, ferchrissakes. Just as you had a ROFL face after yours, suggesting you thought they might be heavy. They are heavy, and for anyone who does care about weight, particularly of moving components, they might not be the pedal.
I would buy a 40lb bike over a 30lb bike if I wanted to take it down hills fast or huck it off big drops, providing the weight was in additional strength. I don't buy a frame based on how much it weighs - I buy it based on how comfortable it is and how its construction material strength and design will fit the intended purpose.
I won't take offense to your rant, but I will consider you as someone who needs to drink less coffee....

That’s OK. You have your opinion and I have my.
And what gave you an impression about me drinking coffee? I will conceder you as someone who needs to stop making unbased comments on what people do.

My apologies if you don't drink coffee, Chuvak. It just seemed a very stressed response to my comment. I only included reference to 'weight weenie' in recognition of your trying to make a joke. My apologies if the smiley did not make this clear - I'll use sarcasm tags in the future.
Sorry if you took offense - I have no opinion either way on the matter.

I have to agree with Chuvak, there are a lot of us out here that are NOT concerned with lightweight parts. We are concerned with STRENGTH! When you're a big rider like myself and others, a component that's going to last more than 6 months is more important than getting a under 24 lbs full suspension bike.
We call those people "Weight wienies", think of it as a Term of Endearment. Just like us over 200 lbs riders are called "Clydesdales" and a few of us over 250 lbs affectionately consider ourselves "RHINO RYDERS".
You can't take what is on the internet personally. If you do, you're setting yourself up for a lot of heartburn.

Agreed, a2. At 220lbs, there's a lot of other places I can drop weight before I started being concerned with the components. My comments about the frame comparison apply to all my bike choices - strength is my first and last concern. If others see it a different way, it doesn't bother me at all. Different intended uses require different strategies.
I always assumed 'weight wienie' was a term of endearment, as you say. Am I incorrect in this? I see the term thrown around all over the place, and nobody has ever pulled anyone up on it before (that I've noticed, at least). Let me know if it is offensive to anybody, and I promise not to use it again.... :)
I bet if the word weenie wasn’t in the phrase it would be less offensive. Anyways, now that we are through the issue let us be friends again. :)

well, calling someone a "weight" just wouldne be as descriptive...:D Anyway, the shinburgers are about 3 pounds I think, I saw those a year and a half ago when I myself was a weight weenie and said "who would ever need those" I still think they're crazy, but they seem more reasonable now that im not trying to make a bike i can lift with my pinky anymore.
