Just want to introduce myself. I have been interested in cycling since I was 10 or so. I did not come from a affluent background so I can remember trying the best that I could to up grade a old Schwinn varsity. This was a bike I bought from money cutting grass. I can remember getting toe clips and repainting the old bike. I know it looked bad but I thought it was great. Years passed and I got to ride again. I was very into making the U.S. Olympic team for archery, this took decades of my life. I would ride some for cardiovascular exercise, but that was all. After making a world team and competing overseas for the U.S. I was diagnosed with cancer. After a sixteen months of hell I was still alive. The doctors told me that I would never ride again. I had most of my abductor muscle taken out of my left leg. I sold my brand new Lemond road bike and moved on. After some time I decided to push myself. No doctor was going to limit me. So I thought that I would try mountain biking, you know fatter tires and all. I bought a bike off of eBay, I figured if I broke it no big deal. Started to ride and fell in love with it. I rode the last half of last year and some this winter. Since I have purchased a new trek ex8 and a litespeed road bike. This fall I plan on a fund raiser ride from the Cleveland clinic through Washington DC to Damascus Maryland to the Sarcoma Foundation Of America. This is the type of cancer that I had, it has a very low survival rate I am just happy to be alive at this point. I hope to raise money and awareness to Sarcoma, And the bike is way to do it. I hope that I can keep up the training that I need to do so I can make this ride.
