Should have thought of this sooner: We're visiting friends in Punta Gorda for a few days, then moving on to Ft. Myers. I'd like to rent a decent (i.e., not a 50 lb Huffy) bike. Suggestions? Leaving Sunday. Nothing like planning, I know...

Call Acme, Bicycle Center, or Cycle Haus. I honestly don't know if any of them rent, but they are the 3 that come to mind in Port Charlotte.

Sanibel is pretty close to Fort Meyer. There are 3 bike shops on the island. I rented a road bike on the island. The bike path on the island is only 15 miles but I would do 2 lengths daily. Very nice riding. Although the island is crowded the bike path was not.

There is a LBS in Ft Myers called the Bike Route. Nice folks there, rented a CAAD 8 for $120 a week. They also have hybrids. Good luck.
