So the month of February come to a close and the question is - how are you doing on your goals for the year?

Goal 1: Ride 2000 miles for the year

Update:
I got in 175.02 miles this month (goal was 75 for the month)- mostly on a stationary bike but that brings my total for the year to 303 miles through 2 months That means I have 1697 miles to go. So I'm on target to do this pretty easily.

Goal 2: Loose 40 pounds (get down to 187)

Update:
After struggling with food issues and muscle building, I drop 5 more pounds this month - all in the last week.
So as of two days ago I was 217.25 pounds down almost 10 pounds from 227 when I started the year

Goal 3: Ride three centurys

Update:
The rides are in June, August, and October. But the first one has 10,000 feet of climbing so I'll start commuting mid-March after the time change. My commute is 15 miles and 2,000 feet of climbing (live at 2,500 and work at 500).

So how is everyone else doing?

My winter weight has, um, peaked. There's still a foot of snow on the ground. Neither of these is consistent with my goals.

just a commuter...pretty consistant at about 63+ miles a week.

Had someone (bored kids?) rip my cyclo'puter off my bike and leave me a bare dangling wire. Classy...

Now I have to scrounge another since I'm not rockstar rich and worry about keeping accurate tabs for the Yearly miles thread...

*bah!*

okay miles, looking forward to adding about 10 to my 20 round trip this coming week...

Snow...ice...single digit temps. February has keep me indoors, but we're expecting 50 degrees on Sunday so that might be the day I kick off March on two wheels.

Snow/ice/below zero temps and wind chills much lower kept me on rollers all of 2008. I have run 48.6 miles, not sure how many miles of swimming (track that in March), and have been on the rollers for 630.80 miles. I was shooting for 500, but I passed that up last week, and decided that 600 was possible, so I kept going. I would have been at 650 easily, but two nights were a bust as I was out of the house with other projects.

Goal: 2008 miles in 2008.

Progress: 292.45 miles total this year, 276.57 miles in February. Only 1715.55 to go! :)

I sucke!:p No mileage goals. I've done anywhere from 4,000 to 7,000 miles for the last ten years. More about intensity at this point. I had started more training as I was hoping to do some tough climbing centuries. I actually started and was doing good but then missed out on the ride I need as it sold out in a couple of days. I'm cool for now knowing I can still knock out a century at any time.

I was broken hearted for a couple of days but then realized the last 3 years have been spent riding with my wife. She's done 3,000 for the last 3 years and seems to really be enjoying the rides together. So I quickly cheered up knowing that we'll continue. If she decides she's had enough riding, then I'll start training.

For now, I think I'll increase our mileage and prepare for the summer! She's having so much fun, How can I deny her?!:D

I've got just over 600 miles so I'm about 200 miles short of my target pace of 400 miles/month. I'll pick up the pace with longer days and century season starting next month. I know I need a good lead going into winter or I'll be cutting it close at the year end.

No worries though, I'm spending more time in the gym with lifting and spin classes so I'm upping the fitness.

I want to ride 2000 miles next year
I want to be a true 'car lite' bike commuter
Continue to lose weight (I've lost 25lbs since August, got another 25lbs to go)
Participate in Sat. Spinner Miles (I didn't this year)
Keep up with my lifestyle changes. I'm cooking fresh foods, eating better, and exercising, I want to keep this up over the year.

Well, my miles are low for Feb. due to bad weather...45 for the month, total for the year is 104. I have an uphill battle ahead of me, though I plan on more distance soon..like tomorrow I am planning a 20-30 miler depending on how I feel once I hit the road.

I don't drive, so I still am keeping that one up ;)

I have lost another 7-8 lbs, and now way 220, I'll be emeritus before you know it :D

I love Sat. Spinners!

I have cooked all of my meals for the last 2 months...all of them homemade and moderately nutritious

Overall I guess I am doing good, all except the mileage. I am tired of the cold and ice, that's for sure.

I didn't put down any hard goals (could be my problem). I find some weeks I won't stop riding and weight lifting, other weeks I can't get my self motivated. About the time I want to go out and ride it starts raining again. I think I need to find someone to kick me in the but and ride with me but my friends either don't have time or don't want to.

I had set a goal of 7,000 miles for the year. So far I’m at 1,194 mile, with in goal. I’ve done 35,312’ of climbing. I’ve completed 2 metric centuries, 1 century and 1 double century. So far I’m making my goals.

2008 goals: complete a century and become more fit.
Plan: start using my gym membership, 10mi route home instead of 4.2, 10mi practice loops.

Living car free since 7/07 have lost 30lbs since July and am down to 193. My ONLY exercise is commuting to work 42mi/wk, grocery shopping, and other errands. Work involves some walking and lifting but mostly computer time. Although I've lost 30lbs, I really need to start exercising my core and upper body. Slow and steady exercise is easy enough but rapid exertion causes my heart rate to skyrocket. This forum has motivated me to drop below 200lbs but my ultimate goal is fitness level instead of target weight.

Food & Weight - bad. I finally was able to make an appointment for a nutritionist in a few weeks which should help a bit with that.

Riding - pretty decent actually. I'm at least getting on a bike every week except for the second week of the year, some weeks more than others depending on weather but try to incorporate riding into anything I do (visiting? riding. Errand? Ride there). Think it's supposed to hit 50 on Monday which will mean a good ride but as I increase mileage I shouldn't have to worry about a butt breakin period on the saddle :) My goals are to get up to Bear Mountain and back which is a hard ride. Should be in good shape for a few centuries coming up in May.

Same here, not by BF standards (about 180mi in for Feb) but considering I've logged 35000 air miles already. I have just now, finally assembled the trainer...

Think it's supposed to hit 50 on Monday Should I cancel the double extraction I have scheduled ;)

So how is everyone else doing?

Horrible. I've been tremendously discouraged at my lack of progress. And the reason is I'm giving up far too easily. Even the new goal of the ride from Pittsburgh to Washington hasn't motivated me to keep my eating in check, or exercise properly. Of course, I've had medical problems as well, but that's not a excuse - overeating isn't a cure. I'm up 25 pounds from the summer, and it disgusts me.

The only high spot this month has been the extended riding with Neil F. two weekends ago. I was able to put together back to back riding of 36 and 30 miles in very cold weather, which makes me hopeful my conditioning hasn't been lost altogether. I have to be able to pull off seven 50 mile days three months from now, so this is encouraging.

Now that "Sumer is Icumin in" I expect to be able to ride more frequently, and riding breeds more riding. And the additional riding will help keep me motivated to stick to proper eating and getting additional exercise. The return of warmer weather means a return to commuting as well. In fact, commuting will probably be my main training for the Pittsburgh-DC tour I mentioned above.

So folks, sing along with me:

Svmer is icumen in,
Lhude sing cuccu!
Growež sed and blowež med
And springž že wde nu,
Sing cuccu!

Awe bletež after lomb,

Goal for February 0 km (0 miles), this goal was achieved :D

March is different, the goal is to beat last years 26km (16 miles), yeah big deal, supposed to snow almost every day for the next 2 weeks  (only 2 days will see a temp above freezing, and it's going to rain both those days).

Just had a tooth surgically extracted 3 days ago. But I'm all stitched up and ready to roll on today's 72 mile forum ride!:D......I'll take the painkillers along for the ride just incase!:p

I've put in 24 km so far and that's about 24 km more then I had expected. And I don't care what that dam groundhog said the snow do got till the sun feels warm hot. So full on riding won't start until mid March.

OK-ish.
Very few miles due to bad weather but did get some in nonetheless.
Gym is either feast or famine -- depending on my sked and health. Good when it's good. Non existent when it's not.
Same for swimming. Good when the health is good. Nada when it's dodgy.
Sprint triathlon is off-course for now, due to running injury and asthma.
I still need to find a way to get winter exercise when sked doesn't leave time for gym, and it's too cold to walk the dog for more than 10 minutes.
(A trainer will be in the plans for next winter.)
Finished new bike build, except for final tape -- yay yay! (pics to come)
Still hanging on to emeritus status, but every day is a challenge in that regard.
Otherwise, basically on track.

>2500 miles - 309 YTD, which puts me at 71% of where I should be. I my commute will be getting longer in March (75 miles/week), which should make up the difference with ease.

Longer tours - hard to find the time to do them, but The Historian is planning a Pittsburgh - DC ride for us. I think this goal has a specific subgoal - learn to camp. Neither of us can afford hotels every night.

Record more of my album - I've been deficient there. Biking time is cutting into music time - I haven't played live since 29 Sep 2007. Finding a way to combine cycling with music would help. Maybe I could be a bicycling touring guitarist?

1)Before I get my Giro 26 in February/March to be well below the 275 Max Gear+Rider weight limit.Well bacchetta shipped it but apparantly it takes weeks to get to Texas from Florida so still haven't gotten it. And apparantly I've gained weight :( Kinda close to not being below 275 with just bike cloths and shoes

2) 7500 miles in 08
Up to 1240 for the year. Unless I'm going to work or to the store I have absolutely no motivation to get out. I guess it is a good thing my commute is minimum 42 miles rt.

5 group rides and 1 charity ride in 2008.
Still none. I keep avoiding any opportunities so far.
Oh well guess that is to be expected though. I now work in a huge office as a group of one. I have a temp boss up in MA who really has another full time job so unless there is somethign wrong I never hear a peep. I have zero co workers and all I deal with is those friendly folks over at the DOL drilling me about why we hired one person over another. Heck I can go weeks without talking to another human being except for a g'morning to/from the gym or cafeteria staff. Go me

The trainer is getting a workout. I figured out that based on hours (just over 50 so far), I'm at about 800 miles. Burned over 35,000 Kcal, so far, and I have gotten my weight headed in the right direction again.

Got on the scale this morning, and checked in at 200.4 lbs. Almost disqualified myself from posting -- maybe by next weekend.
