Winter weather here is smoggy. Does anyone know of good respirator or other device? I'm worried about the stuff i'm breathing in.

I like SnoTurtles idea, i also wear a neopreen ski mask, i dont know if it really helps, but the air does taste cleaner!

I like neopreen masks in winter too. They're cozy cept then get all slobbery... yucky. I have a gas mask that I bought from an army surplus store but it doesn't have any filters so I only wear it duing Critical Mass rides. See my picture:

Elsewhere I have commented on respirators. Respirators work by forcing dirty air thru filters. Simple respirators use YOUR lung power. By basic physics increasing air flow is a cubic function. To filter double the air takes 8 times the lung power. I have tried it in mining. You rapidly reach a limit to how much you can exercise using a simple respirator. I have only known one cyclist using a respirator and he had an electric powered system on his bike to feed clean air to his damaged lungs.
Watch the warnings from your local air quality district like I did in Southern California and not ride on bad air days.

I deal with Chlorine (CL2) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), had to get fit tested for this, (among other gases and such).
But for toolin' down the road, it might work for ya!
