Just thought I'd drop a note about my name change to Mash Master from Woodinville guy now that I've officially moved.

Sounds like Chilly Hilly was nice this year.

Hi Dave, plenty of warm weather to ride in, right? Have you hooked up with any of the BF's down in your new mashing ground?

Cool! Thanks for letting us know your new identity. Kind of like being in the Witness Protection Program, isn't it?

So, have you found any of the BF members there yet?

We'll need photos :D .

Austin is fun, I've been going on rides for the weekends that I'm in town. My new job has me traveling a lot. I've been bike commuting to work, 6.5 miles. Just about everyday is windy so, one day I averaged 29 mph into work, 14 on the way home :-) Today was 80 degrees, I love the sun. It is funny, whenever it is rainy or cold, the bikers here are bundled up like it is snowing outside. I've attached a couple of snaps from my phone.

Wow, looks pretty flat. At least you can get a workout from the wind right?

It is mostly flat. There are some pretty nice hills around too. I'll upload some GPX files to mapmyride soon.

Ha ha! Once was enough for me...there were sooo many turns on that cue sheet, I don't know how you re-rode the route without having to stop every mile or so. The roads were not well marked...just the side streets.

I've been been to Woodinville (in fact, the Woodinville city limits are less than 300 yards from my house) and I've been to Austin, and I'd pick Woodinville any day.

each has it's own advantages. I miss the beautiful days when the weather is nice. The trees, hills, and water are breathtaking.

But seeing the sun year round is super important to me and we too have water and hills. The hills are shorter and fewer in number but the water in Lake Travis is warm.

Both places are great and I can go on and on comparing the two.

As a life-long Seattle native, I sometimes wonder what it would be like to live in an area that was sunny almost all the time.

Weird. It's weird.

I haven't met any Austin Bike forums people that I know of yet. I have been going to several ACA rides and have met some nice people.

It is odd having sunny days, in a nice way. I'm a bit scared of the summer though....I wish I could figure out a way to have a business trip to go up to the Seattle area and do STP or RSVP. But I think my wife would notice if my bike was missing. Maybe I should go and rent one :-)

RSVP is sold out, unless you were thinking of buying someone's registration. Don't know about STP, though.
