Introductions - New guy living in Oregon says hello!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I figured I'd stop in and say hello. I was referred over to this forum by someone on my Bass guitar forum as I was asking for advice on a new Mountain Bike. Looks like a killer place with a lot of great info. I'm in the process of researching, through this site, online, and local shops what I'm going to be purchasing here this next week (hopefully). I have very little experience mountain biking mainly because whenever I started I always ended up riding with people who were way more fit than I was...the kind of people that loved long grinding hills. This time, I'm on my own and hoping to enjoy some of the local trails which are a good mix of short climbs and DH riding. I'm looking forward to hanging around here and learning as much as I can!

Hi Dan, where are you stationed? Don't forget to visit the PNW regional forum and say hi there too! What bikes are you looking at?

Welcome to BF!

I'm stationed in Coos Bay right now at a great job. As far as bikes I am still researching. I'm unsure as to whether or not I'm going to get a hard tail or FS bike. Some have suggested both and both could be equally great in meeting my needs I'm sure. There is a local shop that has a Specialized Enduro Elite for 1500.00. Some people have said it's more of a DH bike and recommended I look at a stumpjumper so I'm going to another local shop to check some of those out. I haven't gotten a chance to ride anything yet as it was pouring out last time I was in the shop. Hopefully I will have something in mind by the end of the week and be riding next weekend but we will see how the hunting goes. I will definitely make sure to stop by the PNW forum, thanks!
