Bicycle Mechanics - What do i need to take this off?

I know I need a bottom bracket type socket to take it off, but don't know what kind. The fork is a Marzoxcchi All Mountain 3.

You need a bottom bracket removal tool kinda like this, but you need a 12 notch one.

What are you trying to do? If you're pulling the valve out of the top of your fork then all I think you should use is a snap ring tool. Pull the snap ring out and you should be able to disassemble that leg quite a bit more.

I'm trying to change the oil. In Marzocchi's tech manual it says i need to remove that cap to change the oil.

so yeah... then you need a snap ring removal tool (looks like a pair of needle nose pliers with tiny needles), the needles on the tool fit into the two holes on that U-shaped ring, then you GENTLY squeeze the tool arms together to make the snap ring smaller and pull it out. You should then be able to remove the end cap. IS there a reason your lowers aren't off your fork yet?

Should the lowers be off if i'm just changing the oil?

Probably... have you downloaded the tech manual for your fork yet?

At a guess you might have a semi-bath system which means that there is oil in the lowers. Even if there isn't, if you're going through the hassle of replacing the oil you should do a decent job and clean everything first. Which means taking off the lowers.

Well i tried to take the lowers off but i can't get the bottom nut off the right leg. It loosens up, but just spins and doesn't come off.:mad: I had the same problem with the other one, but it eventually came off. I read on another thread to use "jerky" movements to get them off, but that only worked on left leg.

And i got a tech manual for Marzocchi's 2007 forks. I don't know what year my fork is so its kind of hard to find a correct manual.

Should the lowers be off if i'm just changing the oil? Probably not.
