That was a really d*mn good one; can't believe I only happened to run across it while channel surfing. They obviously had a good rapport. At one point near the end, Charlie looked at him and talked very sincerely about attending the next TdF; Lance told him he needed to come up for the early stages to ride in a sag car.
Charlie had him for the hour, so there was a lot to it (LA said the divorce was/is tougher than the illness etc) -- but one part I found really interesting was his ride in Central Park yesterday or a few days ago.
Apparently, he was riding along in a leisurely way when a bike messenger came up and invited him to hit it. Lance demurred, saying No, no, I'm not feeling well, I'm just out for a ride and so on, but the guy insisted, so they went. And he couldn't drop him! He said he figured he'd look back and the guy'd be long gone, but he was still there! L. was shaking his head about it, and Charlie was laughing and saying the guy must have gone home on top of the world. Also, L. said you should have seen the guy's bike; it was pitiful (or pathetic or something like that) and just went to show how out of shape he was. Especially since the guy had his messenger bag on.
H*ll of an experience for the guy. Once in a lifetime, if you add the Charlie Rose reference.
