Anyone managed to install the Miche bottom bracket. I'm having difficulty finding a tool to do it. My shimano cassette extractor seems to fit but the campy cassette/BB tool has splines that are too big, which is odd because most of the group is campy compatable. The problem with the shimano tool is that it doesn't have sufficient room for the actual sealed bottom bracket bits to poke through.
Anyone know of a tool that works for putting this in?
Thanks
Simon

I am not quite sure I understand this but I will give it a shot...
I have two or three shimano bb tools. I am thinking the axle is hitting the inside of the bb tool and it won't go in far enough. If this is the case the new Dura ace bb tool should work. It has a larger hole for splined axles.
If this is not the case could you please try to explain better why the tool won't fit.

yeah sorry that wasn't clear, the axle does indeed hit the inside of the tool that i'm using, however, the tool is not the standard shimano bottom bracket tool. This is because the diameter of the shimano tool is much larger then is required. The shimano cassette remover, has a smaller diameter (and fewer number of splines), so I just need one of these that has enough room inside it for an axle to fit through. My LBS is stumped, their recommendation was to drill out the centre of a non hardened steel version.

I am not familiar with it.
I suggest taking it to another bike shop. Try to find one that specializes in track bikes.
There are also several companys that make shimano type cassette tools. The lip or rim thickness of these tools varys in size. I would think one of them would be the correct size to allow the axle through.
I am surprised it is not the Campy tool.

There was extensive discussion about this subject a few weeks back on the Fixed Gear Mailing List. Most suggested enlarging the hole on the Shimano tool. Others have suggested simply buying the Miche B/B tool.

haven't been able to find the miche tool, even from track specific bike shops, they just said to use the campy BB tool. In the end, I filed the splines on the BB bigger so I could use the campy tool. Seemed easier than drilling through hardened steel of a tool.
Thanks for the help

WOW!!
You must have alot of time and patience. How long did that take you??
How do you get these quote things to work and get the box round it???

no idea about the quote things, but it took me about an hour, maybe a bit longer to do one side, then I put in the other side with the shimano tool, then the BB and tightened up the other freshly filed side with the campy tool. Sorted. I've finished the bike now so will write up a review,
Cheers
Simon
