Any of you guys or gals compete in a tri suit? It's time to order some new duds for the '08 season. I've just done shorts and a tri top in the past, but I'm thinking about trying something new. Any pros or cons to the tri suit you care to share?

I use tri shorts and top. Stayed away from the one-piece suit because it's harder to pee with that one.

I second this one furthermore, they are not the easiest things to put on.
Thanks all, just did a search and found some archived threads. I should have done that from the get go. (I had even started one!). That seems to be the general consensus. Well, pickins' are a little slim online as the 08 stuff is just coming out, but the prices are right on the 07 closeouts so I just picked up a new pair of shorts and a top...hope they get here in time for the season opener (2 weeks away)
I do. More aero. Less hassle.
Also my team kit only comes in a one-piece trisuit. (though the ladies have a choice of legs or no legs)
Avoid the Speedo + Man Bra.
But the Man Bra looks so good on my hairy moobs...
1-piece = excellent, no T1 hassle putting a top onto a wet back with a frazzled post-swim brain.

Well here in chilly canada we wear wetsuits for all of our swims, so I just wear the top under my wetsuit, no problems like this. Though I might race in a one peice if I was in better shape...
I don't, mainly because I've never seen one with longer shorts. I can't stand the shorts that cut you right off across the hamstrings: makes me feel like I'm going to cramp. So I wear my PI tri-shorts and a singlet.
I wear a one-piece Zoot trisuit. It has the following advantages:
1. More aero
2. Has a slimming effect on my spare tire
3. Easier to deal with on the swim
4. More comfortable on crotch (in the same way bibs are more comfy on a road bike)
5. I can roll down the entire top, effectively becoming shirtless, without actually removing the top
There are a few disadvantages that come with a one-piece, though:
1. Harder to pee/poop, especially when wearing clothes *on top* of the suit (aka cold weather)
2. Usually more expensive than a tri top + tri bottom
3. Fewer options/color choices
4. May be harder to fit on some people (not true for me personally, mine fits fine)

Well at least it works on my spare tire too.
Just bought a tri suit today. I tried on a few and the biggest problem was the bottom half would fit and the top would be too tight, or the bottom was a little loose and the top would fit. I settled on a TYR which is black in the front/lower and white on the back only. (I hate wearing white) I figure I can take in a little if it really bags out after some water. And it was half off. Of course I'll have to live with the shame of wearing a fashion from way last year...... lol
Ok, I'm sold. Zoot (or was it DeSoto?, I dunno) has a speedsuit for '08 too. Mind you, the window for open water swims here is about 10 minutes a year.

I wear Pearl Izumi tri shorts and a jersey. I have not considered a tri suit at this point.
my team kit should be in next month. I went with the suit.
My legs are too skinny to wear all this Borat bathingsuit craziness. I stick with mountain bike shorts.
