Yesterday, on my ride in to work a pedestrian I passed exclaimed "Man you could cook eggs with that light." I think it was a compliment. :D

Or maybe he was just hungry.

I for one think this should be an important benchmark for all future reviews of bicycle lighting. No review of the latest superbright lighting equipment will be satifactory unless there's some fryin'.

I'll have mine sunny side down.

My non-HID bike lights have a warning in the manual not to use the lights when not moving. I guess the lack of airflow on the lights can cause the bulb casing to get really hot. I'm not sure if it's hot enough to fry an egg but I have touched the bulb before when moving and it does get nice and hot. My bulbs are standard 12W spot and a 20W flood but they are not HID lights.
